CM: Pioli welcomes back an extra leader in Kjaer while waiting for a new signing

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli welcomed Simon Kjaer back into the fold as he played a few minutes of the friendly win over Marseille, and he now has another leader back on the field.

Calciomercato.com writes how the ligament injury in his left knee in the league match against Genoa last December is only a distant memory today. The Rossoneri lost a very important player and while Pierre Kalulu shone through the adversity and is now Fikayo Tomori’s partner, having Kjaer back is an added weapon.

The Dane is ready to give his contribution to the team even if the hierarchies of Pioli now see him behind the Englishman and the Frenchman. It will take some time for the 33-year-old to get back to his best condition but that is absolutely his aim.

Maldini and Massara want either Abdou Diallo or Japhet Tanganga to reinforce the rearguard numerically after Alessio Romagnoli’s exit, but Kjaer being back is ‘an extra smile for everyone around Milanello’.
