AC Milan boss Stefano pioli praised his players for their spirit and resilience to come from a goal behind and beat Hellas Verona 3-1.
The Rossoneri went behind when Lazovic crossed for Faraoni to head home but Verona could not see the lead into half-time as Rafael Leao squared for Sandro Tonali to equalise. The birthday boy got a brace as the Portuguese winger assists for him again just after the break, and Alessandro Florenzi’s late half-volley wrapped up the win.
Pioli spoke to Milan TV at the end of the game, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
On the comeback: “Too bad to go behind, we played really well in the first 25 minutes. Great deserved victory, it is a great satisfaction. Let’s think about the next one.”
On the next game: “We have been playing do-or-die games for a while, we can only prepare them as best we can and enter the field to give everything we have.”
On Leao and Tonali: “They were fantastic. I think it is always valid that the team enhances the characteristics of the individuals.”
On Maignan in possession of the ball: “Now in Italy many teams mark all the ball player. Maignan is doing very well. Next Sunday’s match will be very similar from the point of view of this situation.”
On Krunic and Saelemaekers: “The only plan is to have faith in your players. There may be more useful features when setting up matches. I am fortunate to have many strong and willing players. It is important to choose well at the beginning, it is equally important to have such a strong squad. In the months of November and December we suffered a little from the few choices available.”
