Pioli explains decisions regarding Kalulu, Brahim Diaz and Pobega ahead of Juve clash

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has explained the selection choices that he has made for the game against Juventus at San Siro this evening.

Before the match against Juventus, Pioli spoke to DAZN to preview the game and as part of it, he was asked to explain the four changes that he made to the starting XI compared to the side that lost against Chelsea.

“There will be many duels, the qualities of the players will make the difference,” he said (via MilanNews).

On Kalulu being full-back: “We need certain characteristics and therefore we chose Kalulu.”

On Brahim Diaz being in over De Ketelaere: “It’s the third game in seven days. Diaz is a great player.”

On Pobega: “He has to exploit his qualities. He is a physical player. He has to give us physicality and insertions. He has the right characteristics to do well tonight.”

Milan will be keen on bouncing back from the game against Chelsea and it’s certainly a boost that Theo Hernandez is back in the XI. However, the injury situation is still tough for the club and that’s why tonight’s game will be so important.

In case tonight’s XI actually is a 4-3-3, it will be interesting to see if Milan will use that formation next week against Chelsea as well. Regardless of the formation on paper, though, there will surely be fluidity between the players.
