Pioli says Milan are ‘healed’ after fourth consecutive win: “Only positive signals”

By Isak Möller -

Following the 2-0 win against Atalanta, Stefano Pioli shared his thoughts with the media as AC Milan currently are on a four-game winning run. After the tough start to 2023, they have certainly picked themselves up.

The Rossoneri dominated tonight’s game from start to finish and took the lead in the first half through Theo Hernandez. After a row of chances in the second half, Junior Messias finally killed the game with a lovely dink.

Speaking to DAZN, as cited by MilanNews, Pioli shared his thoughts on the recent turnaround. He also touched on Mike Maignan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who both returned to the pitch today after long absences.

Initial thoughts…

“Great performance today, we played with the energy that I recognise in my players.”

On the performance…

“The important thing was to achieve continuity, we’ve never managed four consecutive wins this season. We worked hard, played with intensity and personality. Only positive signals tonight, but the season is long and we need to claim a lot of points for the first four places.”

On the month of January…

“Nothing happened, there was nothing to fix, there were never any problems. The defeats took away our confidence and performances below our standards arrived. Now the results have given us enthusiasm. The team is healed, but it doesn’t mean that we will win them all.”

On the wing-backs…

“We always try to find solutions to put our opponents in difficulty. Theo enters the pitch well, we try and sometimes he gets there.”

On Maignan and Ibra…

“Mike and Zlatan are two leaders, having all the players available and their leadership helps us. Krunic played a game of a very high technical-tactical level. It will be difficult in Florence.”

On the period after the derby…

“After the derby, we thought about the next match. This is the only way you can give your best, and we will do the same in Florence. Performance depends on us, and when we succeed, we get a positive result.”

Milan will take on Fiorentina next, but it’s worth noting that they will have to do without Rade Krunic and Rafael Leao. Both were carded this evening and will thus miss out due to the yellow card accumulation.

    1. Pioli isn’t complacent. He’s just happy the team got positive results again with 4 consecutive win and clean sheet after bad January.

Let the guy relieved and enjoying his works.
