Pioli provides update on Giroud, Kjaer, Florenzi and other injured players ahead of Atletico clash

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has provided an update on the injury situation that the squad are battling ahead of tomorrow’s game against Atletico Madrid.

Milan have been battling a familiar injury crisis in recent weeks as the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Olivier Giroud, Junior Messias, Rade Krunic, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Simon Kjaer, Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi have all been missing at various points during the current campaign.

Pioli spoke to the reporters who gathered in the conference room at Milanello on the eve of the game against the LaLiga champions and answered questions regarding the injury situation, beginning with a reflection on Olivier Giroud’s condition.

“Losing two weeks of training conditions you. The 45 minutes in La Spezia were useful, his condition will improve in the next matches,” he said (via MilanNews).

“For Kjaer and Florenzi, training this afternoon and tomorrow morning will be fundamental. For the others it is more difficult, I think it is probable that they will return to the field after the break.”

Therefore, we can expect Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Rade Krunic to be out until after the international break which comes following Sunday’s trip to Bergamo to face Atalanta, with a game at home against Hellas Verona next on the slate on 16 October.
