AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli praised his side for their battling spirit as they achieved an ‘important’ three points against Napoli.
Olivier Giroud was the man in the right place at the right time for Milan again as he turned in a feed from Davide Calabria early in the second half to net another crucial winner in a game against a title rival. Pioli spoke to Milan TV after the game.
On the celebrations with the fans…
“Surely it was right to celebrate with our fans. They are always there in numbers and full of support. It was an important match, it is worth three points like the others but it was important to win,” he said (via MilanNews).
“Napoli made us work a lot. We never gave up, we ran and we were always in the game. This is how we win these important matches. The season is still very long. We have to fight until the end even if we have gained points on fifth which is very positive.”
On Bennacer’s performance: “I am always inclined to praise the team more but it is right to praise Bennacer. He is playing great games, he has great technical skills and he is showing them match after match. We worked a lot and we did an important job with the three midfielders.”
On the Scudetto dream: “We have to work hard if we want to accomplish a feat. We have to show our qualities and strength in the next matches. We have to face matches with great determination and quality which are the ingredients to win these matches.”
