Pioli believes Milan are ready for Supercoppa: “Quality makes the difference” – video

The interviews keep coming on the eve of the Supercoppa Italiana between AC Milan and Inter, with head coach Stefano Pioli previewing the game.

Milan will face their city rivals in Saudi Arabia hoping to add another trophy to the collection after the Scudetto last year, but they come into the game having won just one of their first four games in 2023.

Pioli was interviewed by Milan TV on the eve of the Supercoppa and he previewed what will be another tense derby, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“It’s an important stage and the goal is to win. We are here deservedly for having won the Scudetto last year. Winning would mean giving continuity to our path and having built a winning mentality. Even in the derbies we won we had some difficult moments, as we will have them tomorrow, but we have to be good at overcoming them with our way of playing,” he said.

On Inter: “A strong opponent who has a very specific way of playing. I don’t think it will be a different match from the others. The derby is always the derby, winning this would allow us to lift a trophy.”

On the match: “In these matches, quality makes the difference. Quality is not only technical quality, but also in the choices and positions on the pitch.”

  1. He is right about quality, sadly that is something that is in very short supply in Milan. We have mediocrity though, not sure that will help.
