Pioli expecting a more difficult 2022-23 and admits: “We already have some changes in mind”

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has admitted that there are ‘some changes in mind’ regarding the squad ahead of next season.

Milan did what many thought was unachievable at the start of the season as they overcame fierce competition from city rivals Inter as well as Napoli and even Juventus to capture the 19th Scudetto in the club’s history, winning 3-0 at Sassuolo on Sunday to seal the title in grand style.

While the celebrations will continue for some time yet, it is also important not to rest on any laurels and to continuously evolve, especially given the objectives in the 2022-23 season will be to get out of the group stages of the Champions League and to retain the title.

Pioli spoke to DAZN and was asked about the future of the Rossoneri, and more specifically what the plan is ahead of next season when the team will be asked to do well on at least two fronts.

“We already have some changes in mind. For many of them it will be their third season together and it will be a very different season. And there will also be something different to demonstrate,” he said (via SempreMilan.it).

“There will be great emotion and great positivity. We have to play with the desire to be competitive in Italy and in Europe. It will take great determination and preparation.”
