CorSport: Pioli must recover fluctuating season or evaluations will be inevitable

By Oliver Fisher -

Getting into the top four is the bare minimum objective for the season and failing to do so would cause reflections among the AC Milan leadership, a report claims.

Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) talks about Milan’s second crisis of the season. After a bad month in January and an upturn in February, the Rossoneri closed the month of March without obtaining a single victory.

It really seemed that the Diavolo had recovered from the first downturn in form, with Pioli who changing tactical set-up to give more defensive solidity, but instead Napoli are now 23 points ahead and it is looking like Milan will have the worst ever title defence as they continue to drop points everywhere.

Pioli took the blame after the disappointing defeat on Saturday against Udinese, but despite this he is not at risk of being sacked currently. What is certain though is that in a club like Milan getting in the next Champions League is crucial.

The leadership still have faith Pioli can use the international break and straighten out a fluctuating season so far to get into the top four, but if he failed to do so there would of course be evaluations as there always are at the end of each campaign.
