Pioli assures there was ‘never pessimism at Milanello’ but admits winning makes it easier

Thanks to their win in the Derby Della Madonnina, AC Milan are now just one point behind Inter in the standings, although the Nerazzurri have a game in hand. Tomorrow, another three important points are at stake.

The Rossoneri followed up their derby win with a dominant display against Lazio, advancing to the semi-finals of Coppa Italia after a 4-0 win. This means that they will face Inter yet again as they await in the two-legged affair.

In the meantime, Milan will have to continue their good form in the league, thus putting pressure on Inter at the top. The Nerazzurri will face Napoli this evening and if the ends in a draw, the Rossoneri could move to first tomorrow.

During his press conference earlier today (read here), Stefano Pioli shared his thoughts on the derby but made it clear that it wasn’t a turning point for his side. It has only made things a bit easier for them.

“There was never pessimism at Milanello, we have always worked with confidence. The strength of a group is to keep doing it when the results don’t come, it’s easy to do it when you win games. You have to think game to game, we are clearly satisfied with the last two games. Now only tomorrow’s game counts and there is great concentration,” he stated.
