GdS: Milan management believe Pioli could emulate Ferguson and Wenger – details of his renewal

By Oliver Fisher -

Today is the day that AC Milan should announce the contract renewal of head coach Stefano Pioli, according to a report.

Pioli’s renewal has been talked about for months but now the Rossoneri head coach should put pen to paper and sign an extension until 2023, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews). The paper claims that he will get a pay rise to €3m net per season with bonuses that could see it rise to €4m. and a three million euro salary that can come with bonuses.

The agreement will just be a one-year extension because both the coach and the Milan management want to be free to decide and are aware that, if the results are still positive, it will be enough to sit down at the table to renegotiate.

There is mutual trust and great empathy between Pioli and the rest of the club, and that is why the announcement should come either today or at the latest tomorrow. Either way, it will arrive before the game against Sassuolo on Sunday at 3pm – the same opponent that he faced when he last extended in July 2020, when it seemed certain that Ralf Rangnick would be arriving.

There is maximum trust between the parties and the management believe he could have a long-term stay on the Milan bench like Ferguson or Wenger, as per the report.

  1. please get other coach. experience in UCL at least. we can be at this league position because of Ibra. if no Ibra it’s impossible to be second last season.

    1. haha … change of coach will follow with change of players .. if not because they have different style of play that may not match the current set of players or because they don’t want to use young still developing players and want a ready to use player ..

    2. Seriously agustinar how can you keep up with your negative posts when we have been one of the best performing teams in the last 1.5 year. We have beaten several records that our previous greats didnt manage to reach. We have reached cl and we generally plays great football. Sure ibra has had his impact and especially when he arrived as it helped change the mindset of the players but to say its only ibra is downright disrespectfull to all the other players and the entire management included. Had i not been aware of you as a poster on various sites over the years i would have believed you would be a a juve or inter troll by now.

    3. what a clown, which experienced ucl coach can you see Milan employing. Pioli is good and you will see with time if we maintain playing in UCL

  2. We can’t afford to change the coach now, i feel he unarguably deserved the contract extension by 1 year… It’s a Joy to see milan play beautifully, but our defeat to Fiorentina still hurts.
