GdS: Agreement imminent as Milan seek to reward Pioli for his fantastic work

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are continuing to negotiate with several key figures to ensure the core of their squad remains together moving forward, and that extends to head coach Stefano Pioli.

Pioli has done excellent work since his arrival back in the early stages of the 2019-20 season but his deal expires at the end of the season. This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) confirms that Milan are negotiating the renewal of their head coach.

The club have an option to extend his current deal until 2023, but the parties are discussing a longer agreement and pay rise. Pioli currently gets €2m net per season plus bonuses, however this amount will increase given the results he has obtained.

Owners Elliott Management and the other leadership are absolutely convinced about moving forward with Pioli in the coming years given the fantastic relationship they have with him and, more important, the harmony Pioli has brought to the squad.

The renewal of his contract is near and is the right reward for the work done by a management who was originally only thought of as an interim coach.
