Pioli picks out two things Milan lacked in defeat against Juventus

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli believes that his team were lacking ‘attention and quality’ during Sunday’s defeat against Juventus.

The Rossoneri lost their ninth straight game away from home against Juve in Serie A as Paulo Dybala netted the winner in the 77th minute.

Milan were impressive on the whole and generated a number of good scoring opportunities but once again could not find the back of the net, and Dybala made them pay for their wastefulness.

The defeat leaves Milan in 14th place in the table with seven defeats in 12 games to begin the season, and with the visit of Napoli up next it is vital to get points on the board.

After the game, Pioli spoke to Milan TV about the defeat against Juventus, and his words were transcribed by Milan TV.

“It is a pity, there was a performance, but at these levels something more is needed,” he said.

“We are growing, the spirit has been excellent, we have played at par against an opponent stronger than us, unfortunately we lacked a bit of attention and quality. A positive result tonight would have been more important above all for morale.

“We did what we had prepared. We had several chances. When the matches are so tight, these are what decide games.

“We need to improve our ranking. We must also be worried, we must return to winning. This cannot be our ranking.”
