Pioli ready for ‘great opportunity’ as he states what he expects from Leao

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli insists his side have instantly put the loss against Torino to one side and it has actually helped them to prepare for the game against Red Bull Salzburg.

It was Salzburg who were in the box seat heading into the fifth round of games as them and Chelsea occupied the top two spots, but the Premier League side won in Austria and Milan beat Dinamo Zagreb 4-0 to climb into second.

That means the Rossoneri actually only need a draw against Salzburg at San Siro tonight in order to progress but it will not be an easy game against a side that held Milan to a 1-1 draw in the return fixture and have caused a lot of problems.

Ahead view of tonight’s match against Salzburg, Pioli spoke to SportMediaset to analyse the game and the task that his team have at hand to take the next step forward, with his reports relayed by MilanNews.

“We immediately put aside the match in Turin and concentrated on Salzburg. We play another competition and then continue to think about Saturday’s defeat. It allowed us to better prepare for the match against the Austrians,” he said.

“Of course, we are not satisfied with Saturday’s performance against the Granata, but we have a great opportunity that we have been looking for and wanted.”

On Leao: “We always expect the best from him. He is a very important attacking weapon. He will have to work well as will the whole team. We will have to be attentive and active in both phases, then we have individuals who can decide games.”
