GdS: Pioli to rely on Giroud again in crucial games – the Frenchman has made San Siro home

By Oliver Fisher -

Olivier Giroud has made himself feel at home at San Siro and Stefano Pioli will once again lean on him in tonight’s game against Udinese.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports how Milan’s target tonight against Udinese is simple: to return to winning after the slip-up against Salernitana, to maintain top place in the Serie A standings and to put the pressure back on Inter and Napoli who play after.

Pioli will once again rely on Olivier Giroud in attack, who has already scored 10 goals at San Siro this season since joining from Chelsea. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic still out injured, the French striker will lead the department after failing to score against Sampdoria and Salernitana.

The curse of the No.9 shirt was mentioned upon his arrival, but Giroud seems to have finally managed to dispel any taboo even if he has not scored outside Milano just yet. HE has a special relationship with the fans at San Siro, and hopes to confirm it both tonight and then in the cup derby against Inter.
