Pioli responds to idea Milan could spend on a new forward in January window

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli did not rule out the idea that a new forward could arrive in January but admitted there is a long way to go until the window reopens.

Calciomercato.com reported earlier today that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara could be forced to try and bring forward by six months the investment they were planning on making next summer on a new attacking player. The identikit is as follows: an under 25 player who knows how to play both as a centre-forward but also as a winger if needed too.

Pioli spoke to the journalists who gathered at Milanello after this morning’s training session to preview the match against Dinamo Zagreb and he spoke about a number of topics including the current injury crisis.

He was asked about the possibility that the management could dip into the transfer market when the window reopens in January to bolster the attacking options he has at his disposal.

“Between now and January there is still a lot of time. To have two absences in the same department is unfortunate because we are missing important players and also the possibility to rotate. But I have several players who can play there. Now let’s think about the next two games in front of our fans,” he said (via MilanNews).
