Pioli uses Scudetto comparison to answer question about unity of Milan squad

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli was very quick to jump to the defence of the squad he has at his disposal, claiming the current group are even stronger than the one that won the Scudetto in 2021-22.

Milan are preparing for a very important week as they will host Udinese at San Siro tonight and then PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday night, having obtained just one point from their last three games.

The pressure is on the team to get a positive result after a difficult run of form that has led some to question the unity and character of the squad. Pioli spoke at his pre-match press conference on the eve of Milan-Udinese, and answered very strongly when asked about the strength of the group.

“Not even in the year of the Scudetto were we so united. I am absolutely satisfied with the group that has been created, as well as with our identity,” he said (via PianetaMilan).

“I can say that I will never have doubts about the solidity and cohesion of the team. The guys are willing and the attitude is always optimal.”

Now, the pressure is on to beat a winless Udinese side so as to face the PSG match with a bit of momentum.

  1. I have no doubts also about team solidity. What I doubt is your strategy per match basis. We don’t need to play beautiful football, I don’t care you play attacking football or park the bus, as long as we get as much points possible.
