Pioli gives update on Theo’s condition ahead of ‘very important’ Lazio clash

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli has revealed that Theo Hernandez did not train on the eve of tonight’s game against Lazio, but believes that he is fine to start.

Milan face Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in a rare Friday night game, hoping to return to winning ways in the league after a couple of less than satisfactory results and to put the pressure on Juventus in the process.

The Rossoneri were on a good run of form up until the 4-2 defeat against Monza a couple of weekends ago, which began a run of three games without a win, the others being the Europa League second leg defeat in Rennes and the 1-1 draw against Atalanta on Sunday at San Siro.

The Milan head coach has made just one change to the team from five days ago, with Simon Kjaer coming back into the centre of defence partnering Matteo Gabbia.

Pioli spoke to DAZN a few minutes before kick-off at the Stadio Olimpico to preview the match and talk about his selection decisions, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

How is Theo?

“Theo is fine, it’s a knock, he didn’t finish yesterday’s training, but he can play from the start.”

How important is the game?

“They are all very important, it is wrong to think about Atalanta because tonight is another match. The team are doing well, we need to obtain points in the league.”

What did you say to Leao?

“This morning he told me he was fine, but the match starts soon…”
