GdS: Pioli to opt for tweaks over mass rotation against Fiorentina – his choices

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli will opt against radical overhaul for tomorrow’s game against Fiorentina despite having the Champions League last 16 second leg against Spurs looming, a report claims.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), Pioli will opt against mass rotation for the game at the Stadio Artemio Franchi tomorrow night and instead will make few tweaks (some obligational) with an eye on the return leg in Tottenham.

The two immovable members of the rearguard at the moment are Mike Maignan – recently back from injury – and Malick Thiaw, who has become a permanent starter. Rade Krunić and Rafael Leão are disqualified, so there will be two forced changes there.

Ismaël Bennacer will finally return to the midfield after having been absent for more than a month due to an injury to his left hamstring, so he will be alongside Sandro Tonali again. Davide Calabria should come in for Junior Messias at right wing-back after he too returned from injury.

In attack, Ante Rebić will play instead of Leao with Divock Origi not convincing enough at the moment. Charles De Ketelaere should come into the XI too in place of Brahim Díaz, who will start the match against La Viola from the bench. Olivier Giroud will lead the line, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic (or Origi) ready to come on.

    1. calabria is a good player thats why he is a starter for Pioli (he beat conti, dalot, florenzi, kalulu and dest for that position over the years).. Plus he is the captain.. another proof he is a good player and an important member of the team.
Furthemore during the crysis it wasnt Calabria at fault Milan was conceding goals, he was among the better preforming players at the time
