AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has revealed that he ‘got the answers’ he was looking for during last night’s game against Inter after the defeat at the weekend versus Atalanta.
Refereeing controversy was once again the story of the night as a Romelu Lukaku penalty and a Christian Eriksen free-kick were enough to send Inter into the semi-finals after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s opener, with the Swede later being sent off.
Pioli spoke to Milan TV after the game, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews and translated below.
“We made a good performance. I got the answers I wanted even though we can’t be satisfied with the result. We leave this match with convictions to do well in the future. We have the qualities to do well,” he said.
“The team played the game with the intensity that was lacking against Atalanta. The game then became complicated with episodes such as the expulsion of Zlatan but the team did not give up and continued to fight.
“We have a strong push. We lose the Coppa Italia which was an important goal but we are focused on the other competitions which are even more important. We have to continue with intensity and play as we know. There are 4 months left in the season and we have to continue working as we are doing, knowing that the second round will be difficult “
