AC Milan players before Inter

Player Ratings: AC Milan 1-1 Inter – Tomori responds; Reijnders brings X factor

AC Milan suffered a late blow in the Derby della Madonnina against Inter, but nevertheless walked away with a point which could prove important down the line. Below are the player ratings for the Rossoneri.

If you haven’t already, make sure to check out how we decide the player ratings. From the scale to what affects the rating, we have compiled everything there.

Starting XI

Maignan (7): Conceding an equaliser in added time is never nice, especially not after you have just made a crucial save to deny the opponent. It’s a shame because the Frenchman made several good saves and also did well with his feet.

Walker (6.5): While we didn’t see a lot from him in the attacking phase, he defended very well and used his size to win a lot of duels. He was the player nearest to Zalewski on the goal, but he was busy marking another man so that wasn’t his fault at all.

Tomori (7.5 – MOTM): What a way to respond to the transfer rumours, and doubts from the Milan fans. He was tremendous throughout the game, always staying close to his man and having just the right amount of aggressiveness to win duels and not cause fouls. He only got beat once (by Barella) but he recovered then and averted the danger. Really good from him.

Pavlovic (7): Just like his partner, it was a strong performance at the back and he used his pace well on the left flank on several occasions. He also dared to move forward with the ball when needed, without losing possessions. Very good, but the feeling is that Tomori had an ‘extra edge’ when comparing the two.

Hernandez (7): He was heavily involved in the goal with his run forward before laying the ball off to Leao at just the right moment. Defensively, it was like day and night compared to recent games with several duels won, smart positioning and free-kicks earned.

Musah (6): In the first half, it was very much a mixed bag with some poor moves and some good ones. However, in the second half, he looked much better as Milan changed their formation slightly, dare I say composed. Enough to get a pass here.

Bennacer (6): It was quite poor passing from him, not getting any pace on the balls over the top (which made it easy for the defenders), and he also took too many touches on the ball. However, he was involved in the goal which, at the end of the day, was an important contribution.

Reijnders (7.5 – MOTM): He had Milan’s first shot on target with a thumping effort that Sommer made a good save on. The feeling then was that the Dutchman could make a difference, and so he did a few minutes later with the opener. It was a great shot to get past the Inter defenders, and he continued to play well afterwards. There was one chance he perhaps could have done better on in the second half, and some balls lost, but the goal was decisive.

Tijjani Reijnders of AC Milan

Pulisic (6): The first half was rather quiet for him, more so due to the way Milan played, but he at least got more involved in the second. He did well with the ball by his feet and also created a couple of half-chances, definitely enough to get a pass here.

Abraham (6): At the end of the day, if he hadn’t stolen the ball from Calhanoglu, then Milan wouldn’t have got their opener. On the other hand, you could also argue that he didn’t quite fulfil his duties as the centre-forward of the Rossoneri, but that’s a discussion for another day.

Leao (6): Let’s be honest, it wasn’t a good pass/shot which led to Reijnders’ goal, but it was decisive still. He could have done a lot better on some chances in the second half, and also seemed to lack a little pace, but it would definitely be harsh to give him a 5.5 here.

Substitutes

Jimenez (6): His clearance wasn’t great just before the goal, there is no doubt about that, but overall his appearance off the bench was positive. He combined well with his teammates and actually posed a threat to the Inter defence.

Terracciano (5.5): Unfortunately, while he was mostly solid, it was his lack of control in the middle of the pitch which led to Inter forcing Maignan to a great save. And on the following corner…

Camarda (5.5): He worked hard and made things difficult for Inter at times, but in the interest of treating him like any other player, a 5.5. is justified here. There was a great chance to pass to Reijnders or Chukwueze, but he got too goal-keen and fired off a shot instead.

Gabbia (N/A): We didn’t see enough to give him a rating.

Chukwueze (5): I initially didn’t give him a rating, but after watching the replay, he jogged back when Zalewski got into the box (they were on par just a few seconds before). Poor defending which cost Milan a lot.

    1. Haha, I said this to my brother today when he commented that Milans bench was thin. I said yeah – it’s horrible. We have nothing. And if we put Chuk in it’s even worse because he is minus on a scale from 1-10. All he does is loose the ball and his markings.

    2. At least daelemaekers pressed like a possessed devil. From the beginning I’ve been saying we shouldn’t have let a man with the heart of saelemaekers leave and saved the 25m on chuck. Chuk keeps proving me right. I hope we can recover 15m

  1. Terracciano needs a lot of work. He doesn’t have the ability to read the game very well. It was very worrying when he came on and we lost organisation and structure immediately. He needs a lot of work.

  2. Walker messed up one time. ONE time. Then after that he was brilliant, solid and throughout very safe. Looking forward to see more of this backline. Pavlovic superb, Theo finallly great, Tomori superb, but made some scares. Jimenez came in with the right attitude, as did Camarda.

Dont forget, Inter is probably one of the best teams in the world atm. This was, however the late equlizer, a great match from Milan. And with Gimenez in on top, Im more optimistic then ever.

    1. Especially with the ball. Great players know how to control and pass the ball with the right timing, making the right choice. 10 years of Guardiola also help.

  3. Terracciano is not good enough for Milan Futuro, let alone the first team, sorry. Same with Chukwueze. The sooner we sell those two, the better, and use the money to buy some quality.

      1. because it’s not only the defenders playing, we defend as a team. They did well individually, it was the defending collectively that was poor, as usual.

  4. I can see that you missed the player who lost zaleweski on inter’s goal…
Chukwueze should have a 4. He saw the free player (his man) and decided to go to the center of the area instead.

      1. Yes, this was a cowardly display by Conceicao, basically just trying to defend the entire 2nd half. There was no way that was going to hold up.
The defense looked very good for the most part until Conceicao decided to tilt the entire pitch against them. Organized line. Impressive by both Tomori and Pavlovic.
Leoa is a huge talent but honestly he is just not a serious person. He doesn’t take the game seriously. All these ridiculous back heels and flicks to nobody, carelessly giving it away. He is what he is at this point. We either have to accept that or move on.

        1. Do you remember what attacking football VS Inter under Pioli looked like? Because in case you forgot, it wasn’t pretty.

You can not press Inter high because they shred you in transition. You have to sit back and counter because they are slow tracking back.

          1. Im talking about the second half. There is a difference between playing counter attacking football and just parking the bus for 45 minutes and playing 7 defenders. They played the first half quite well without giving up much. The second half was playing scared and not even attempting to do anything but kick the ball back to Inter.

  5. Nice game today, defense was on fire today. Wish we get to see more of this display, doing this against a team in great form and not losing grounds says a lot.

If we can keep this up, top 4 won’t be a big deal for us.

Also another take home from this game is the link between the backline and the front line, we really need something in our midfield. If we can and with this defense we would be unstoppable.

  6. Oh well.
It’s unfortunate to concede a goal that late but the goal was coming and Inter deserved it. Matter fact they were very unlucky by hitting the post at least 3 times.
I didn’t like the way Conceição set up Milan for the 2nd half where he decided to park the bus vs one of the best teams ever when it comes to crossing the ball in the penalty box. Inter diagonal passing is elite.
The goal is Jimenez’s fault. 1st he makes an awful attempt for a clearance, falls on the ground and sits there allowing Bisseck uncontested to cross the ball.
Biggest problem is that Milan had only 1 midfielder, Reijnders, on the pitch for the last 20 minutes and that midfielder has been running on fumes with no break. However many hours are left in tge window they need to use to bring another midfielder, not a forward like Felix.
Maignan was great, defense looked very good. Great debut by Walker, the goal had nothing to do with him. Midfield outside of Reijnders was poor and the forwards were non existent.
    SIGN A MIDFIELDER!!!

    1. “Midfield outside of Reijnders was poor and the forwards were non existent.
      SIGN A MIDFIELDER!!!”

Reijnders scored a goal and almost donated a couple. He was AWFUL when Inter had the ball and didn’t do enough when we had it.

        1. You mean that awful Theo pass at the beginning of the 2nd half even though Reijnders was right next to him?
Awful went inter had the ball?
Milan had the bus parked, set back and inter did nothing outside of crosses from the wings.
And when Milan had the ball, he was literally the only 1 that did something with it. What other midfielder did anything? Was it Musah, Bennacer, who?

        2. Did I say that he had a great game? No I said that he was the only 1 in midfield that wasn’t poor?
You said that he didn’t play well?
          Let’s see.
Milan was 2 minutes away from winning the game thanks to, yup, Reijnders goal.
Milan only had 4 shots on target (5 total), 3 of those shots on target were Reijnders. Great save by Sommer in the 1st half, the goal and a shot in the 2nd that should have done way better on.
Inter midfielders did nothing today offensively. Did Reijnders get beat or lost his man at any point?
Conceição had Milan defending all 2nd half and the few times Milan went forward Reijnders was there.
For the last 20 minutes he played next to Terracciano in the midfield. Need i say more?
If you are going to act like the comment police at least know what the hell you talking about?

          1. Milan got a draw against one of the most inform teams in Europe, who are proving to be difficult for anyone to take points off them. We could have taken all 3 points, but all things considered a draw is not a disgrace.

      1. I have to disagree. I didn’t see any egregious errors from the Dutchman. If anything I felt Bennacer and Musah were more of a mixed bag in terms of performances.

Also hard to judge with the defensive block Conceicao had the midfield playing in. But what WAS visible was the lack of defensive midfield quality with Fofana out.

      1. We beat Real with this midfield and took a draw today off the team with arguably the most balanced midfield in Europe, without Fofana. Can we improve in midfield, sure, but the problem isn’t the midfield.

        1. “Can we improve in midfield, sure, but the problem isn’t the midfield.”

Please do share what is the problem then? Everything but the midfield? If it’s the defense, midfielders play a big part of it. If it’s the offense, midfielders play a big part of it. If it’s both, it’s obvious the midfielders are in fact the problem. 🙂

    2. Thank you brother, you’re the only that tabled something substantial I don’t understand why everyone keep blaming Chukwueze, yes he messed up with his awful position but the pressure Inter mounted on started with Jimenez inability to make a vertical pass when AC Milan was on a counter but instead he passed it backwards and that in itself unbalanced team and had he made the right decision that should have given them a breather and push Inter back but eventually he made another error clearance which seemed like a pass to an Inter player that cause Milan the three maximum points.

  7. What a performance by our defensive line, moreover the CB duo. Hopefully they’ll have consistent performance for the rest of season.

And now we’ll wait for Santi to be introduced to the line up.

  8. A good game, wasn’t expecting anything from the game but seeing we took a point, I am pleased.

Bar a win, there are issues of players tending to over do instead of keeping it simple and basic at times.

  9. Although it’s so tough conceding in the 93rd minute how about we appreciate today’s game? Inter are miles ahead of us this season, especially motivated. Our players finally played like warriors out there today. They actually sacrificed themselves and gave it their all and it was a traditional Italian display of going up and defending a lead. The whole defence was impeccable tonight. Pavlovic reminds me of chiellini.

The midfield is bruised and beaten right now and we made due with what we have. Attack too.

Every starting player out there today gave it their all and made me proud and this is what must continue. That amount of dedication. We’re inters hardest opponent this year. I hope they build on this because that was a classic derby and its a shame we didn’t win cause it would have been unbelievable.

    1. If we get that midfield fixed and the keep defending like this, we would be unstoppable.

A good game and still happy we got a point but if we had won I would be beaming all week

    2. I disn’t miss Fofana though. His missed passes through midfield are getting very irritating. He needs to quit them. He wasn’t missed in the defence either.
We’ll see if he can step up now that he gets some rest. If not we need someone else or at least some back up.

      1. I’m not sure that one game will count for much rest, I suspect he’ll start Wednesday only a week after his last game, and then against Empoli too. Better than nothing but I don’t think he’ll be at 100%.

  10. Last Substitution gave Inter a draw not required at all pulling leao and pulisic from attack and put defensive minded players allowed inter to play last 15 mins in milan half without any fear of counter attack hence we concede one & they also hit the bar twice in that period

  11. It seems like Théo Hernandez doesn’t care to play well if there is no Dumfries in front of him. Yes tonight was a great game by him but what does that tell us ? Why is he so bad overall this season ?
Should we try to convince him that every right-back/wingback/right winger he’ll face is also a Denzel Dumfries ?

    1. I thought we watched a good Milan tonight, al’Italiana. They were strong in defence and somehow effective on the counter-attack, though they ought to have done better.
Maybe, that was a good model to follow.
      A

      1. I don’t know if I can call it a great defensive game. I have nothing against parking the bus, closing the gates and so on, but inter had 3 shots on the post and 3 goals ruled by offside. To put it in another way, we were EXTREMELY lucky to not have being beaten by a large score.
To play the Catenaccio or whatever some call it, we have to be extremely focused defensively and not allow for singles lapses of lack of focus. While we were generally good, few errors here and there did allow inter to have dangerous attacks.
I also wouldn’t say we were effective in the counter-attack. Outside from the goal and the shot from Reijnders, we didn’t really create any meaningful threat. And when Conceição subbed almost the entire attack and midfield for defenders, we were no longer in position to create any danger and inter simply threw in the kitchen sink.
So overall I’d say this is a great result given how much of a mismatch this was. A win would have been a complete robbery.

        1. They played a very good game defensively up until Conceicao decided to tilt the entire pitch against them with his substitutions and park the bus for an entire half strategy. I don’t think they gave up a shot on target in the first half, the backline looked organized, drawing Inter offsides multiple times. But you can’t just sit back and give Inter the ball for an entire half.

          1. ACM1899 Again with this same dumb comment. There is counter attacking football, which is what they did pretty well in the first half, and then there is parking the bus for 45 minutes and putting 7 defenders in the game which is what they did in the second half. Counter attacking football requires some actual “attacking”, not just kicking the ball right back to the other team.
If you can’t see the difference between how they played in the first half vs the second half, I’m afraid you don’t know what you are watching.

    2. 🤣🤣🤣. Well noted, mate. With Walker at the back, the defensive line was far better. They kept the opponents offside a couple of times. Our problem now is in the middle. Bennacer’s game has gotten so bad. He sleeps on the ball. If possible, we need to offload before the winter transfer deadline, and get a decent replacement. Chukwueze’s contract should be terminated, if they cannot get a buyer for him. Terraciano should be loaned out. Milan needs quality in the middle. I must praise Conceicao for being able to use these players to face Inter. There are too many rotten eggs in the team.

      1. At the beginning of the game I said I would be happy with a tie esp considering Inters recent form. BUT To lose it last 2 min is harsh – BUT – in truth Inter were the better side and deserved a tie. 3 posts and some fantastic Mike saves. So I guess a draw is fine. BUT it’s just the manner in which we lost it. Jimenez with a poor clearance yes, BUT the 28M BUST that is Chukuweze failed to mark the back post as it is his job. Horrible. Cannot believe we spent 28M on this kid. Get this guy outta here he has shown next to nothing.

I also think Sergio got a few subs wrong. Terracciano was poor and Carmada not ready for this kind of game and we lost hold up play. We defended the last 20min and it caught up to us. Musah lol. I cannot wait tilll we get another mid and this guy goes where he belongs: the bench. He’s ONLY useful after we have a lead at best.

Positive display from both Tomori and Pavlovic and Walker.

  12. This is why you must win games against small teams…

    I mean “small teams”.

What happened with Milan this season ?

They succeed in UCL already. Even if they loose in Netherland.

But Serie a. So many lost games. Against middle teams. Small teams.

If they keep pushing now against Empoli, everything is possible

  13. Good attitude by the team.
    Defence were warriors tonight.

Saying that we were under huge preeure for large parts of the game and usually that means a loss.

It’s hard to understand this team.

Jimenez is unlucky to have been involved in the equaliser, he was brilliant before that.
Our attack had little threat before he came on.

I thought Benny did very well before his sub, which I’m sure was planned as he does not have 90 mins at the tempo in him yet.
He was the one to instigate our goal, we need his quality in midfield.

Overall we still have no playing style or structure and we will never have consistency until we find that

    1. He was not brilliant not unlucky in the goal. He decided to screw us and he was successful. He lost a lot of balls and when he attacked he was abysmal.

Yes, he is young and stuff, but let’s call a spade a spade…

    2. Chukwueze’s slack defendinf notwithstanding, if Jimenez had properly cleared the ball, instead of sending it to Dumbfries, we might have avoided that goal.

We were sorely missing Fofana for this one. Such a stupid decision to play him against Parma. Just like playing Royal against Girona on the eve of a necessary transfer. I just wish we would stop making stupid decisions. From directors who purchase absolute garbage player to experienced coaches who make rookie mistakes.

  14. Good work from Pavlo and Tomori, although every time Pavlo has the ball at his feet my anxiety skyrockets. Unfortunate to give up the tying goal in injury time, but we were fortunate all game long with three disallowed Inter goals and three posts hit. This game could easily have been 3-1 or 4-1 Inter.

That said, I think Conceicao went defensive too early. At the half he changes from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2, thereby setting up two ranks of four, to give Inter less space, but we also did less going forward. Then finally he took off Leao AND Puli. There were a few times where Inter was pushing so many players forward that they only had one defender back and he was INSIDE our half. All you need to do is stand Leao at the halfway line off to the side and then instruct our defenders to put a foot through it towards the middle of their half on the left side and it would be Leao 1 v 1against Sommer easily.

    1. Agreed @Vero

Even if you’re trying to shut up shop, you need some slither of counter attack threat to stop the endless attacking waves, at least force them to keep more men back or risk conceding a 2nd.

Still, to defend Conceicao … maybe he expected that threat supposed to be Chukwueze who instead had his decision making called into question (and his work rate to mark Zielewski)

Overall Inter deserved the draw given they hit the woodwork several times. If we make a couple more targeted Quality (not quantity) signings we could be onto something good.

      Forza Milan

    2. Leao is off, and on. You don’t keep players who cannot mark very well when your opponent keeps piling up the pressure on you. Even Pulisic, was tired. Only problem is that we don’t have a good bench. Something has to be done about the middle, if we want to secure a top 4 finish.

  15. The players are up for the big games mentally and also thrive with the extra space on the pitch. There were a lot of positives but we have failed to build on those before and so unfortunately only the result matters. I said this at the beginning of last season. This team was not built properly and won’t last beyond two seasons. Pellegrino, Romero, and Morata are gone. Loftus Cheek, Jovic, and Okafor are in exile. Abraham, Chuk, and Musah are fighting for their stay. The bottom line is, a lot of these guys will be gone at the end of the season. The only thing that matters is whether or not they can get us over the line and into the CL next season.

  16. I honestly blamed the coach for the draw. He should have allowed Leao and Pulisic to deter inter from attacking Milan with all their players. I also find fault at playing with only one natural midfielder thereby making life more difficult for our defenders. Overall it was a good game for Milan and I am sure with this type of display, fourth place finish is a possibility .

  17. Btw, I think that Juventus is having their offensive awakening, as I thought they would at some point. Kolo Muani has 3 in 2. This is really bad news, because they were already hard to beat and if they start scoring then I think they’re the heavy favorite for 4th spot, even if we figure out how to win consistently.

    1. To bad Milan or Juve will draw Inter if both advance in the CL. We need the Italian teams to do better then the English in Europe so Italy get the 5th CL spot next year too. Else we are cooked. Dont see us catching Juventus as it looks like now. Lazio, Fiorentina and Bologna are doable

    2. Juventus offense awakening?
Couldn’t do anything for 60 minutes and after Empoli put in a defender coming off an injury, who made a mistake on the Muani goal Juventus started doing something.
2nd goal was a deflection, and during the 3rd and 4th goal, Empoli played with 10 players. Where was the awakened offense vs Napoli and Benfica the previous 2 games?

      1. That’s why I said “I think”, because it’s maybe. It’s more likely than not to happen. People are acting as if Juventus is a relegation squad. It isn’t. It’s a good squad. Good enough for CL at least. 9-13-1 is their record. The 1 doesn’t lie, they were unbeatable in the league until a week ago. So start scoring a few goals and their win % shoots up. Just saying. I hope I’m wrong because if I’m right it’s big trouble for our chances at top 4. Conversely, I think Lazio and Fio will drop points for sure.

        1. Indeed, if Juve start scoring a bit more, they will easily get a top 4 spot. Kolo Muani has many similarities with Zirkzee, so he might be the kind of striker Motta needed. Time will tell.

  18. Everyone saying the defense was great and while Tomori and Pavlo did good we could and should have lost by three goals, not counting the offsides goals that were called off. We are in serious trouble if this is what were calling good defense.

      1. Is it? Or is it a poorly timed pass? Like one split second before and it’s onside. It’s crazy to assert that every offside is simply good defending. There a lot of variables.

  19. Considering most of us were expecting a loss tonight this isn’t a bad result against Inter – the so-called best team in Europe… With Gimenez and Walker in the team now (and if Tomori can keep this up) we should be okay.

      1. I think so, but only if the players are consistently played in the same position. Inter’s line-up is 100% predictable game after game. Our players never seem to have more than 2 back-to-back matches in the same position. And it shows.

      2. One step at a time man. They clearly want Ricci but if Torino doesn’t want to sell right now there is not much we can do. They’re also talking about Felix, either now or in the summer. If Felix arrives I see us going to 4-4-2 as a standard formation, which means if Ricci or another DM arrives, we’ll have Fofana, Ricci, Reijnders, Benny and Musah as our CMs (even if we stick with 4-2-3-1, as Felix would probably be the AM). That’s pretty good for 2 spots.

    1. I think the hard part is that we held the lead for so long, its hard to concede in stoppages. Had they scored earlier, we’d all be rejoicing more. The tie was fair here. They were extremely unlucky and played better.

BUT, this is a great response from a team that lost to Zagreb. ZAGREB. Our problem has been lack of consistency after a great result. So if anything I hope this result is a change of tide. We need to play like this against the Empoli, Verona and the likes.

  20. If our management just managed to loan out Terracciano and buy Ricci or Fendrup (make it a loan with obligation to buy for 25 mil to manage the FFP rules) this would had been a great winter mercato.

Having, Ricci (or Fendrup) with Fofana and Reijnders in the midfield then Musah, Bennacer, R-L-C to substitute on late in the second half rather then Terracciano would give us a whole other dimension. And a top 4 finish.

  21. If you’d offer me a draw before the game I’d take it, so I’m not really disappointed. But I am worried. We desperately need additions in midfield and as much as I want Ricci and I hope they really get him in the summer, we first need a defensive cover there. We really needed someone like Frendrup tonight.

Also, Chuk should be the first one to leave in the summer. He jogged back against Zalewski which led to the goal. He’s just not cut for Serie A. Saele is 10 times the player. At least he has grinta and will run his socks off.

Anyway, we need strong 4 months to qualify for CL and then try to sell the deadwood and patch up this leaky team. With actual quality reinforcements. Midfield first.

    1. I’ve been saying it ever since I saw Chuk play: We made a mistake getting rid of Saele. Not sure if Saele would be ok being a 60 minute sub with most of his assignment being pressing and covering the flank but we know he’s amazing at that.

  22. Overall much better. Compact and full of grinda tonight. Walker did a great job. Pablo tomori superb. According to reports ibra asked bother of them (tomori& Pavlo) to leave. Thank God that didn’t happen. We desperately need an am and a good number 6 that can build up play, and more quality on the bench. The problems are still there, despite important point that we picked up, which was due to hard work, determination of our starting 11.

  23. Coaching did fixed issues: i mean anyway good game indeed

    1. If i play Camarda it will be at prime !
    2. Good shift with jimenez at subs also we have earn 1:0 with Brnacer in
    3. All that made Mikes mistake at goal IMO – not his fault
    4. ACM was a better team

  24. I said something before now that does people writing Milan off against inter saying we screwed condemning the game before it even played I said Milan has been inconsistent and unpredictable come today there will surprise everyone when we see big teams I think we do better then small teams we mess up that’s the inconsistency am talking about was pained for that goal won’t lie tho but unto the next one

  25. It was a shame to give up the late goal.
We got lucky with how many times they hit the goal frame.

Solid defence for much of the game.
Agree with all the comments that we desperately need midfield reinforcements.

A draw was much better than I was expecting for this match.

  26. I’m glad to see Walker’s performance. The fact that he wasn’t noticeable all game is good news for a defender. He kept his side of the field cleaned up. Huge upgrade over Royal and Calabria.

  27. Gut punch. So soooo sooooo close to three points smh 🤦‍♂️. The defensive setup I liked very much. Loved the way we defended today prior to the subs ofc. We need to be this alert against lesser teams. Seems like we’re always up for the big clashes and then get complacent against small teams. That hybrid 523 formation looks good in defense. But maybe it was specifically for Inter as they play a wide formation.
Inter hit the post 3 times and I was about to clown them for that but alas.
MOTM for me is Scudetto Tomori or the goal post….either one is fine.
Sarge redeems himself a bit here for me. At least I got some signs of ability and something which we can build upon. But we really need to hunker down.
Given how dangerous Inter is as of late I’d probably take a draw before the game started so I’ll have to think of it that way to hide the disappointment.
But for me the all the starters put in a shift. Our bench however is so ridiculously thin.

    1. Considering where we are this season, it’s remarkable that we won 2 and tied 1. This team has been disjointed the entire season. Constantly up and down and yet we can rally up to Inter 3 times in a row.

I think once the roster is improved more and we plug the gaps and bolster the bench (however long THAT would take) we can get the better of Inter, who’s roster is only getting older.

Great result for us. If we can only channel these performances to every game we play…

      1. I don’t know how we didn’t but we did. Then again I think we won the derby with Pippo in charge so these things tend to be so unusual and buck logic / trends.
We do really need a deeper bench especially for midfielders. We just look spent. I think Walker is a great pickup but he’ll have to learn the nuances of Serie A. I saw some instances of naivety. Just wish they’d kept Calab as back up. Even the Giminez signing is 50-50 for me as we don’t really seem to be servicing our strikers well so I’m not sure how he’s going to work out..
Nonetheless I really hope we can build on this performance. It’s going to take alot to mentally maintain it with this bunch

    2. I don’t know if I’m so optimistic for the future. This season we had 3 or 4 good games if we include this one, 3 were against inter and one against Real and each time we failed to build on them.
Furthemore, it’s easier to play like this when your opposition is trying to win and when we’re the underdogs. But time and time again, when we were the favourites and it was our turn to build something, we failed miserably.

      1. That’s the part I’m worried about tbh. The continuity. I’m hoping this is truly the real turnaround point. We need to put this sort of effort everytime (very doubtful but I still have hope). If we don’t, we can really kiss our season goodbye. It will mean we ain’t making UCL next year

  28. The substitutions made by the coach resulted in the equaliser. Jimenez is too rash, inexperienced and overzealous. Being feisty and mercurial can’t be equated to intelligence and competence. Second, Leao is too lazy, unconcerned and lackadaisical in his attitude. He must be sold. Even though he played a part in the goal, he made wrong passes and lost possession. Theo played well today but I still believe he and Leao should go. We need players who can play with aggression and be ready to die for the team. The coach should have brought on Bartesaghi instead of Chuks to create more stability. Remember when Bartesaghi came on during the Parma he brought stability and calm. We need such players. Terracciano and Jimenez and Chuks substitution by the coach cost us.

  29. Kyle walker crushed it. Leadership, tackles, giving directions, epic slide tackles… he looks like what we’ve been missing after kjaer and ibra’s leadership faded. Idk if Giménez will be that great but Kyle and Giménez transfers make me feel like Milan management finally woke up and realized you can’t always go for bargain bin players

  30. It is remarkable that Milan played with some players with barely any Serie A experience (Camarda, Jimenez).
The fact that in 3 games Inter could not win a single one against Milan, who are having an unsatisfying season, exposes Inzaghi’s weaknesses.
All in all, both teams fought hard and it was an interesting game.

  31. Those two centre backs clearly don’t wanna leave… They played like it’s their last ❤️🖤. It wasn’t nice conceding in the last minute, must we????!!!!

  32. Don’t have much to say on this one. Walker is a huge upgrade. Leao has been horrible since the Super Cup final. Hopefully Gimenez will actually be able to score unlike the other forwards on the team. Good to get a point but crushing to lose 2 points the way it happened.

  33. Freaking missed the match as I was sitting and pouring in whiskey and cognac with a bunch of thai whores so time slipped for me 😀
Looking at the ratings it seems like we actually had a pretty good game though but looking at a match video on utube it also seem like Inter had 4-5 shots on the posts so how was the match actually ?

      1. 😀 Well to be fair ive known them for many years as i often play billards with them 😛 it was nevertehless a pretty funny day and i did aksi head out again and slammed some more booze afterwards 🙂

        1. Ah I see. Yea I knew some strippers from uni days. Cool ppl to hang out with. The profession tends to get a bad rep. Billiard you say haha….putting balls into sockets…I see what you did there 😂😂😂

  34. I am not sure why this website wrongs Bennacer, it’s like you are leading a campaign against him. He was a paramount to the team. The goal was a collaborative work of him, Abaraham, Theo, Leao and Tiji.
Plus, he is the most prominent player you see during the game.

  35. As expected, KW showed us what we had been missing for several years, at RB. The whole back line looked more assured and comfortable..
    at least a 7 imo….
