AC Milan clinched three very important points against Hellas Verona on Sunday afternoon, scoring three goals in the process. Below are the player ratings for the Rossoneri.

Starting XI
Maignan (6): He had a couple of good interventions, including saving Verona’s only shot on target, and he was decent with his feet most of the time. Overall, however, it was nothing more than an average display from Magic Mike.
Tomori (6): Not that it was difficult in a game like this one, but he did well in defence and handled all of the basics. He also deserves a bit of praise for the work he does in the build-up by pushing forward. Then again, definitely not more than a 6 today.
De Winter (5.5): It may sound harsh, especially since Verona didn’t create much, but the Belgian looked a bit shaky/questionable on more than one occasion. He often took the easy way out and sometimes put himself in difficult positions. He also could have done better with the chances he had in attack.
Pavlovic (6): Aside from losing the ball a couple of times in the first half, it was another solid day at work for the Serbian. He often won his duels and also made some of his trademark runs forward.
Saelemaekers (6): The feeling is that he could have done a tad more in attack, especially given the subpar crossing, but he was solid overall. Good crosses or not, he always puts in a good shift and that helps the team.
Loftus-Cheek (6): In fairness, the Englishman was very lively and made several good runs down the right-hand side, which helped stretch Verona and open up space. However, for a higher rating, he needs to be much better in the final third (he should have squared his great chance to Pulisic).
Modric (7): Another game in which his importance was highlighted. Not only did he take matters into his own hands with some runs forward, as well as good distribution as always, but he also created that third goal all by himself. It was a lovely strike indeed, which resulted in a tap-in for Nkunku.
Rabiot (7): He was all over the place and I mean that in a good way. He got a great assist for Pulisic, and then he had the backheel just before Nkunku won the penalty. But as said, his biggest contribution today was that he was almost always available. And in possession, we all know he’s strong.
Bartesaghi (6): He did well to balance defensive with attacking contributions today, even if he could have been even more successful with his crosses (and corners). He definitely got the basics done so it’s only right to give him a 6.
Pulisic (7.5): Once again, he proved that he’s great at being in the right place at the right time. The goal was pretty much his first chance too, but aside from that he was very lively and tried to get things going. He continued to do well before he was subbed off, but that goal meant so much to Milan just before the break.
Nkunku (7.5 – MOTM): A penalty and a tap-in might not sound MOTM-worthy, but we have to consider that he won the penalty and that the tap-in required very good awareness (and pace to get there). He also had a great pass for RLC in the second half that should have resulted in more. Hopefully, the start of something good.
Substitutes
Jashari (6): The game had died down when he came on, so it’s not like tremendous passing was needed, but instead he impressed with good pressing and hard work.
Ricci (6): He found himself in a couple of good duels, despite not being on the pitch for long, and did well in these. You can see that he’s used to playing in a more defensive/holding role.
Fofana (N/A): I didn’t see enough to give him a rating.
Athekame (N/A): I didn’t see enough to give him a rating.
Odogu (N/A): I didn’t see enough to give him a rating.
The manager
Allegri (6): He didn’t need to make many decisions for the starting XI, given the injury situation, and it’s a game that should always be won. Although Milan scored three in the end, the first half was also very bland. I don’t think any higher than 6 would be fair here.
Mike and the back line looked organized and get a good rating.
I think there’s an argument for Puli as MOTM, but then there’s the issue: He should have taken the PK.
Did Allegri OK it in advance that Nkunku would take it if he drew it himself? Maybe. I hope so.
If Puli made the call himself, and then Nkunku misses that, we’re right back at this drama of who takes the penalties and a lack of accountability.
Pulisic is a great player, but he needs to step up and take responsibility in those moments.
Of course it looks brilliant after Nkunku made it and got another goal right away. The confidence and the two goals looks amazing.
But had Nkunku missed, it would have been a horrible moment for the team.
Pulisic was playing with confidence at that very moment and surely would have nailed the PK.
No one has mentioned this, but Nkunku put it in a very saveable spot — low and not close to the post. Had the GK guessed the right way, that is saved 100%. It was not a good PK but luckily it goes in, and Nkunku gets another goal.

Seriously Isak, anyone else gives that same performance De Winter did he gets at minimum a 6 if not more. He did nothing wrong. Don’t carry over his poor performance in the last match to this one. It’s not fair.
Not a big deal, but I think Allegri should have made his first subs in the 60th minute. We were up 3-0 and certain bench players need many more minutes than they’ve been getting. Otherwise no complaints. 3-0 against a club like Verona, as it should be.
Rabiot DID get an assist off of Pulisic (he headed it into his path off the Modric corner).
Also, Modric’s shot was for the 3rd goal, not the 2nd.

Good second half. A very solid, professional performance, which is exactly what’s needed against teams like Verona. 1 point off top spot going into the new year is better than most could have hoped for, though without injuries, we’d be top. If Leao can get hot like he did in the last scudetto winning season, we’ve got an excellent chance of winning Serie A. I hope in January they nail down Vlahovic and Lewandowski for 2026-2027.

From the looks of it, neither Vlahović nor Lewandowski will come in january, perhaps one of them will came in summer 2026.
I think Füllkrug is all what we’re gonna get as striker and maybe that new Montenegran kid Andrej Kostić will get to make a cameo once or twice.
It’s what he’s saying. Re-read the last line. “…FOR 2026-2027”. Free agents can sign from Jan 1. In any case, we’re not going to get both Lewandowski and Vlahovic. One or the other, and I’d say of the two most likely Vlahovic as he’s younger, knows the league and knows the coach and is appreciated by same. But just as likely we get neither TBH, as our wage bill is set to climb with Mike’s renewal (if he signs) and the looming renewal of the probably 2025-26 MVP Pulisic. The club has an option to extend the latter until 2028, but a proper contract extension in the summer would be wise, given that if they wait until 2027 he’ll have a year left and then we’re all into the drama of renewing an expiring player again (as usual).
I’m a huge Pulisic Girl, I’ve always followed the national teams and I’ve watched Chris for awhile. The way he is playing now, the trust and freedom he has been given by this club… He knows. And I sure as hell hope he knows how stupid it would be to leave, no matter what the Prem offers him. He just wants to compete at the highest level (champions league). I have no doubt that Milan will return to Champions League football next year and I hope like hell they win the Scudetto. It also wouldn’t hurt to see him win the Capocannoniere. Someone needs to make that man take credit for the amazing things he is doing. Making the Ballon d’Or shortlist might do the trick. While selfish, I just want him to show the world that Americans have what it takes to compete.
And if I may say, what Allegri has given him this season, how he’s become more surgical in front of goal, I personally can’t wait to watch him unleash that at the World Cup this summer!

Very good game by Modric after some poor performances for his standards. He sent a good cross from corner on the 1st and great shot with his weak foot on the 3rd goal.
Milan finally scores again from a corner. Pulisic right place with a nice first time finish.
Good to see Nkunku score. Being small helped him on the action that led to the penalty when Nelson ragdolled him. Nice reaction on the 3rd goal.
Verona didn’t do anything the entire game.

Not silky but a comfortable win. I thought Jashari looked good and his passing ranging especially those long balls are superb. I see why Allegri has him playing in a regista role. Good to see Nkunku get on the scorers sheet and going forward let’s see what Allegri has in plan for when Füllkrug is eligible.

The first half (or at least a big shunk of it) was bland. Neither team tried anything and both looked toothless offensively wise. This is my theory but I believe that since we conceded so much early on lately, Allegri and his men were more cautious and decided to not overcommit early on. Once we secured the win, we looked more fluid and more dangerous.
Nevertheless, this is a 3-0, our first win by more than 1 goal margin in 3 months. We kept a clean sheet, and at no point we looked like we could have conceded. My only complain for Allegri is that he should have subbed out Modrić and probably Saelemakers a bit earlier. They essentially played 10-15 minutes too many.
Since Hellas Verona was toothless, I don’t feel we can properly rate Maignan and our centerbacks, but they did their job properly. De Winter was the weakest of all IMO, but he didn’t make a big mistake either.
Bartesaghi and Saelemakers were defensively good but offensively weren’t as potent as you wish they could, at least during the first half.
Modrić was his closest today to his earlier performances this season. His passes were on point, no misplaced passes, created chances and of course could have gotten a pretty nice goal.
Rabiot also seems to have improved.
Loftus-Cheek was on those who tried the most during that boring first half, but wasn’t the best either.
Pulišić was once again clutch and in the right place at the right time. He doesn’t assist as much this season, but he scores in bunches.
Nkunku was borderline absent until the second half where he turned a 1 goal margin into a pretty much game over in the span of 5 minutes. He wasn’t very much involved buildup wise but he did what a striker is supposed to do. Perhaps the news of Füllkrug coming or the transfer rumors did encourage him to improve a bit ?
I don’t have a lot to say about the subs performance, the game was as good as over when they came in.
In my opinion I think Pulisic should have been MOTM. He was all over the field and his tactical awareness is what places him “in the right place at the right time”. The goal he scored off of the assist from Rabiot is what changed the game and opened the game up in the second half. Modric was a close second and then probably Nkunku. Although I’m sure Puli and Modric would probably prefer Nkunku to get it for a confidence boost. Nkunku won the penalty but Puli did the classy thing by giving the shot to Nkunku, we’ve seen Puli do this many times in the last few years. I love the team first mentality.

Well, I’ll be damned. I wasn’t at San Siro, watched it on TV and my TV set was malfunctioning: it showed a player with the number 18 actually having a good game and scoring twice! I need to call service to fix the TV set! OK, let’s get serious. Solid performance. No shots on target for the opposition. We finally crushed one of the bottom feeders, and did that without stopping and falling back into a low block until 75 minutes in and with the game already decided, and got the clean shit. The midfield worked again, when the two geniuses there, Modric and Rabiot, got nice performances after much needed rest. Puli decisive as usual, Nkunku finally playing while facing the goal, producing a PK which he buried, being opportunistic for a tap-in, and even making some very good passes for the companions. Huge signs of life, finally! Nice of Puli and Modric to give the PK to him, in order to help the companion get the monkey off his back. Very good attitude by the whole team, which is also Allegri’s merit.
The players:
Mike barely had to work. The little he was asked to do, he did well, so 6.5
De Winter: still a bit timid and traumatized from the bad performances, but solid today and playing it safe, with decent positioning, which is what is needed from him. Not brilliant, so, a pass. 6.
Pavlovic: Solid and tough as usual, with minimal errors that weren’t dangerous. 6.5
Tomori: Very good game; almost perfect, solid defense and good support for the offense. 7.
Bartesaghi: Again a pleasure, a couple of good crosses, also a couple of minor defensive failures. 6.5
Saelemaekers: This guy really does need a deputy; he is visibly tired. Less incisive than when he is well rested. 6.
Modric: Excellent. A couple of lost balls but many well-placed ones, involved in all three goals, the third one being 85% his. This team plays so much better when the Maestro is in good shape! 7.5
Rabiot: Getting back to his form before that international duty injury, and again, just like Modric, when he is fit, he makes a difference. Tremendous assist. 7.
RLC: Very positive game. The ref wrongly called for a foul when he had a normal shoulder-to-shoulder dispute with the defender, breaking free into the box. A pity; he could have scored there. Great shot that unfortunately got deflected wide left, by a hair. Other good offensive actions. 7.5
Pulisic: Huge football IQ again, perfectly positioned to score again, moving a lot, highest kilometers ran. 7.5
Nkunku: OK, let’s get the man his due. Finally a very good game. Not only he earned a PK and scored, but also played with his face to the goal which produced our third goal; also some very good flicks and passes, very helpful to the offense. MOTM, 8.

Fofana: A bit wasteful as usual but nothing serious, holding well, 6
Ricci: Good defensive holding, 6

The Mister:
Good attitude by the team, subbed well to rest essential players, didn’t allow the team to let go too early, his team scored three goals and had a clean sheet; all nice. 7.

I realize it’s a bit against the grain but I don’t think Nkunku had a good game. Just a good second half.
First half was the usual flat foot half efforts. No real pressing. No extra effort to connect with a tough pass from a team mate. The usual.
After the pen however it was like he thought to himself “oh yeah I can do this”. His energy and effort showed. His second goal he was already running at goal before Montipo spilled.
That said it was clear that he is rusty when playing at that level. Positioning is still poor. Decision speed too slow. Effort level uneven.
I am glad he broke through and will happily eat my words on this if he can have a solid and complete game next week. I don’t need a goal much as I need work rate and intelligence to show another improvement.
A player doesn’t need more than a half if he scores two goals in that half, to be said to have had a good game. Players don’t always need to play well for 90 minutes to make a difference.

In MY opinion Alexis did poorly today; took one shot hitting the stands, was less incisive; less efficient in supporting the offense; got into fights and had to be repeatedly calmed down by Tomori. In the recent past I’ve rated Alexis MOTM. But today, he wasn’t.

When Italian players perform poorly, I rate them poorly. One huge example, Terracciano the left back (not the goalkeeper) who FORTUNATELY is gone. I think he is terrible, despite being Italian. I’ve called Ricci too timid in his first few games and rated him poorly, and he’s Italian.

Wow, you mean two Italian papers overrated an Italian player..? Shocking. And Tuttosport gave him a 6 and Sempre Milan gave him a 6. That would be more accurate. He did nothing exceptional in this match that would warrant anything more than a 6.
Don’t be so sensitive snowflake. If you are going to post your own ratings after every match then people have the right to say where they disagree.
I want to give Tomori a slight bump to 7.5 for pulling a Gabbia. He saved Saelemaekers from himself by physically pushing him away from the ref, multiple times. You could tell Sale was just begging for a card but Tomori kept pushing him back and telling him to cool off.

We r not good on first 20 minute and there is no shot on goal.. Always back passing again and again…. We need 1-2 ball playing defender, also a midfielder who can dictate the game by attacking enemy defense straight on it.. n yes nkunku score 2 goal but still not enough, he wasnt fit to allegri play….
Oh boy, do you have your dark glasses on today? Why are you complaining? We were careful in the first 20 minutes given that the previous three games we conceded 6 goals. We also did have a good shot in those minutes that was deflected by a hair, and no fewer than 4 good crosses/passes that our attackers missed not by much (getting in late or failing to control in first touch; it happens, but one could say that things were slowly improving). Back passing again and again happens when the other team is a bottom-feeder that employs a low block; it takes a while to wear them down; also, they were fouling a lot to disrupt our rhythm, and also simulating a lot, rolling on the ground like they had been shot. We nee a midfielder who can dictate the game? Have you somehow missed Modric’s excellent performance??? That’s exactly what he did; dictated the game and attacked the enemy defense, being involved in all three goals, the third one being 85% his doing. What else did you want from him??? So, a player scores 2 goals which makes us comfortably win 3-0, and that’s not enough? What did you want, five goals by Nkunku??? Look, yes, Nkunku had been very poor in previous games and he isn’t perfectly adapted to Allegri’s style, but don’t blame him for the one game when he actually did very well, involved, with good passes to his companions, and he earned a PK which he converted, and also scored a goal being very positionally aware and opportunistic. That was a very good performance, overall. I have criticized him before, and many times, but when he does well, we do need to acknowledge as well, to be fair to him; and today there is no doubt that he did well.
The one thing I agree with you is that we need another defender, given that De Winter even though he wasn’t a liability today, often is one, and is not a suitable lone deputy to all three full backs. Yes, we need an experienced defender who can do a good backup when one of Tomori, Gabbia, and Pavlovic are not available.
Everything else you said though, was pretty much off-target. What game did you watch? Reading your comment, one would think that we are in the relegation zone. Oh wait, no, we are actually first! (At least, until Inter’s game; hopefully they drop a couple of points to Atalanta).

Milan fans excel at complaining when things don’t go well, and being too modest when things go OK. Pavlovic lost the ball once and apart from that he dominated the entire game. To give him an 6 ‘because Verona strikers are no good anyway’ is so undeserving. Pisa strikers are also not good and yet we threw the game. Pavlovic easy a 7 for me.

Great performance all around. De Winter was also really good, especially in the airial duels. This is how we’re supposed to look against the “lesser sides”. Verona basically didn’t do anything, and we could have scored one or two more goals. Congrats to Nkuku, but this isn’t enough. Also our wingers were basically invisible in attack throughout the match. For the makers of salads, this is the third game in a row he looked a bit off. But all and all nothing to complain about, great performance all around
I’m really happy for Nkunku. Yes this was against a weaker team, but they themselves did win their prior two matches.
It’s a start for him nonetheless and a shot in the arm for morale. It was a solid game for our entire team.

I don’t have much expectation from the mercato, fulkrug will be helpful as we need an aerial threat in the box.
Pulisic was MOTM for me. Scored, gave penalty to Nkunku, who in turn found belief and scored the 3rd with a renewed sense of belief.
He’s a great team player
To underscore your point on Pulisic. He came out around minute 70. At the 83rd minute the telecast showed he was at 9.6km. Rabiot (the guy who was everywhere) was at 9.2km.
Isak is nailed on that Pulisic was the spark. But it wasn’t just the goal. Handing the pen to Nkunku. Tracking back. Being available for the outlet.

Come on man, De Winter didn’t put a foot wrong whole game and had a few key sliding interceptions as well. 5 clearances, 2 blocks/tackles, 3 recoveries, 2 headed recoveries, zero dribbled past and a clean sheet. Rated statistically in the match as the best of the three CBs today 🤷♂️. That’s at least a “pass”, no?
Anyways, that first half was hard to watch. We still have problems finding a gameplan to break low block teams and I had feared we were going to play out some terrible drab draw. But with scoring it sort of opened up the game. Good 3 points, nice clean sheet. On to the next one and a great way to close off the year

Isak from my perspective you have a tendency to pick a couple of newcomers who you always seem to want to paint in a negative light. I know De Winter had a rough game a few weeks ago but for the most part he’s been as good as Tomori and way better than Pav was last year. I suggest you include more analytics in your ratings to balance your (rather suspect) qualitative evaluation.
And to compound on that, he hasn’t been a starter. It has been difficult for him to gain consistency if he hasn’t been playing.
So from that perspective, I think he’s actually doing pretty good right now and has room to grow. Pavlovic didn’t have a stellar first year either.l and I agree with your assessment that De Winter is doing better than Pavlovic did in his first season.
I agree 100%. The ratings always seem to follow a pattern, rather than the actual on-field performance you get ‘personal’ biased evaluations! and you’ve rightly called him on it. Good for you!
Football is more than just statistics, you must be a money ball Gerry Furlani fanboy 🤣. No need for everyone to crash out over a rating they don’t like. The game was stale from start to finish so there was not much to do for any defender to earn high marks.
Isak has his opinion and Nelli has his. And Nelli backed up his statements with facts/stats, not his own personal feelings. Why does that bother you?

You are trying to influence his opinion by nagging and complaining. You guys are throwing a fit over what a point or a point and a half from a match where the defense wasn’t put to test. I don’t care if someone would give De Winter a 6 or 6.5 it makes no difference. If De Winter had a goal or an assist and still received a low mark then the complaining has merit but from this result the amount of moaning is over the top.

There are things De Winter can work on, but this is his first season. He’s been improving in recent games and I think he should get a 6.5 here. He’s doing better THAN Pavlovic did in his first season.
And this is without consistent playing time. He needs support from the fans. I think he does have the quality. The lack of playing time hurt his confidence. With Tomori likely looking at an exit, we need him to grow into the role.

Agree with others that the whole defence should have been rated higher. They had a clean sheet. And De Winter rating in particular was too low. He played his role well today.
