Pobega looks ahead to ‘special game’ against a Torino side who ‘will want to win’

By Oliver Fisher -

Sunday’s game against Torino will carry an extra bit of meaning for Tommaso Pobega as he returns to face the club he was playing for just last season.

After spells with Ternana, Pordenone and Spezia, Milan sent Pobega out on loan to Torino where he would work in a number of different midfield roles under Ivan Juric, scoring some important goals and generally having an important season of development.

He came back to base ahead of the summer preseason and this time Stefano Pioli decided that he was ready for a spot in Milan’s midfield rotations, with his journey taking the next step after he scored in the Champions League against Dinamo Zagreb last month, his first goal for the Rossoneri.

Pobega spoke to the Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport about his return to the city on Sunday night and the emotions that he will feel, starting with a comment on Ivan Juric who is doing a good job there as head coach.

“Juric is a direct person, real. He does not like to mislead, if he has to tell you something, he tells it to your face,” he said (via MilanNews).

“For me Sunday will be a special game, in which I want to do well. Last season was personally a good season, I built good relationships and good bonds with several players, some staff and the club. We will meet a Torino side who will want to win, to show that all the work they do in training leads to a result.”
