Pobega: “We weren’t able to approach the game as we’d have liked” – video

By Oliver Fisher -

Midfielder Tommaso Pobega believes that AC Milan were unable to put their plans into action last night as they were beaten 2-0 by Inter.

Milan will have a mountain to climb in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final with the two-goal deficit and they were ultimately left rocked by a dreadful start which saw Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan score inside the opening 11 minutes.

Pobega spoke to Milan TV after the game to try and explain what was a real anti-climax from Milan from a performance perspective.

“We weren’t able to approach the game as we’d have liked, we didn’t transfer what we’d prepared onto the field from the start and that’s a cause of disappointment,” he began.

“In the second half we tried to react and try to gain a few advantages but we weren’t precise and clear-minded. We weren’t incisive.

“Were it up to us we’d play the second leg immediately so we can put all we’ve got onto the field and try to overturn this tie.

“Starting tomorrow we must focus on preparing for Spezia, it’ll be a tricky game in a difficult stadium and it could cause us problems.

“We must prepare to the best of our ability and give it all we’ve got.”
