Pobega discusses ‘fundamental’ win and his first Milan goal: “A thousand emotions”

By Isak Möller -

Tommaso Pobega scored his first goal for AC Milan this evening as he sealed the deal against Dinamo Zagreb. It’s a memory that the young midfielder will treasure forever, as he described it.

Pobega spent last season on loan at Torino and after doing well there, Stefano Pioli decided to keep him for this campaign. He’s looking better and better for each week that passes and today he got his first goal.

Coming on in the 67th minute, he combined with Theo Hernandez ten minutes later before sending a powerful effort off the upright and in. Afterwards, he was understandably very happy with his performance.

On the victory…

“These are fundamental points. We had prepared well in the last few days, this is how we had to attack them and win this match. Every game has to be won.”

On the goal scored…

“The first goal at San Siro is never forgotten, especially in a competition like this one. I think I will always remember it. It’s difficult to describe in words, I was overwhelmed by a thousand emotions, it was really beautiful. Honestly, I only remember that Theo put the ball back, my only thought was to be on target and kick hard,” he told MilanTV (via MilanNews).

The youngster will be important for Pioli this season as the schedule is incredibly tight, with several mid-week clashes to take into consideration. For now, though, he will have to continue like this and improve his form.

  1. It’s nice to see Pobega played better and better in every match. Now he scored his first goal in Champions League and at San Siro too.

I never agreed with anyone who says he didn’t deserves to play at Milan or wants Milan to sell him asap just because he didn’t played that well in some matches.

It’s normal for young players to make mistakes. That way they can learn and improves themself.
