Positive injury updates arrive regarding Calhanoglu and Musacchio; worries over Kjaer

By Oliver Fisher -

An update has arrived on the injury situation of three key AC Milan players: Hakan Calhanoglu, Simon Kjaer and Mateo Musacchio.

The former was left out of the squad entirely after picking up a muscle problem, with Kjaer was forced off in the first half of Monday’s 1-0 win over Torino and Musacchio – on the bench to start the game – did not come on to replace him after feeling tightness in his calf.

According to a report on MilanLive, Calhanoglu has an injury to his right iliopsoas which is not considered particularly serious and that is why the player is trying to speed up the recovery time. If he cannot be enrolled for the trip to Fiorentina on Saturday, he should still be there for the return leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final on March 4th.

Matteo Gabbia’s excellent performance as a substitute on Monday is comforting for Milan, but Musacchio’s problem should not keep him out for long. The Argentine suffered a contracture in his right calf, nothing really alarming and today a new clinical-instrumental evaluation is planned. Therefore, his presence in Florence is not excluded.

On the other hand, the issue relating to Kjaer is more delicate. For the Dane it is in fact a problem with the flexors of his left thigh and today he will have an MRI. The verdict will therefore arrive on Wednesday, but playing this weekend is unlikely.
