The possible Coppa Italia opponents for Milan in the Round of 16 – photo

AC Milan are currently getting ready for the pre-season, which will kick off tomorrow (Monday), and they will be focused on the league first of all. However, the Coppa Italia is another tournament they will want to do well in, entering in the Round of 16.

As most of you will know, the top teams in Serie A always enter the competition in the Round of 16, which normally takes place in January. Milan made it to the quarter-finals last time out, where Atalanta knocked them out, and the goal is to do better this upcoming season.

As highlighted by the knockout tree below, which was confirmed last month, Milan will be up against one of Lecce, Mantova, Sassari Torres, Sassuolo or Cittadella in the Round of 16. Roma will then most likely be the opponents in the quarter-finals.

Inter are on the same side as the Rossoneri, meaning they could face each other in the semis. The Nerazzurri will likely have Lazio or Napoli as their opponents in the quarters, but it could absolutely be a derby in the semi-final.

For now, though, full focus is on getting ready for the start of the Serie A campaign and not the Coppa Italia.

  1. Like the management cares about that… Only Italians watch this, it will not help the global power of the brand and Milan doesn’t play for prestige anymore. They’ll field U23 there. Let’s focus on that 4th place.
