Loftus-Cheek and Fonseca Milanello

MN: Predicted Milan XI to face Juventus – Fonseca forced to make late decisions

Paulo Fonseca will not be afforded the luxury of making decisions about his AC Milan team in a timely manner as they prepare to face Juventus.

The impact tomorrow’s game could have on Milan’s season cannot be understated. Perhaps, it could be a restart. Perhaps, a reset.

By tomorrow night, the Rossoneri could be firmly back in the fight for the Scudetto, or maybe an outsider for the Champions League.

In other words, Milan must win.

However, there are late disturbances, and Fonseca must ensure his squad are not affected by the late changes to the team news, which is being reported by Milan News.

Mike Maignan will not be displaced, nor should Theo Hernandez or Emerson Royal be. In a late update, it seems Malick Thiaw will also keep his place in the starting XI – he will partner Matteo Gabbia.

In midfield, Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana will be chosen as normal. But it seems that Christian Pulisic could be absent from the starting side, as he is not 100%.

The American will be assessed tomorrow before the game, and if he is not fit then Ruben Loftus-Cheek is ‘ready’ to replace him.

For the front line, there is still a ballot on the right – though, Samuel Chukwueze is seemingly preferred currently. On the left, Rafael Leao will remain, and Alvaro Morata should return.

AC Milan Predicted Starting XI vs. Juventus (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Emerson, Gabbia, Thiaw, Theo; Fofana, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Morata

As always, our pre-match preview is available, offering you the insight ahead of tomorrow’s fixture.

  1. If Pulisic is unavailable, then surely it must be a no-brainer that Chukwueze gets the start. Who else could Fonseca be considering? Surely not Musah. If anything Musah should start in a midfield 3 over RLC. I’m on edge as it is about this game without Puli.

    1. I agree. I don’t even get why Fonseca would trust RLC at this point since he hasn’t done anything to give anyone the confidence of starting for Milan at this point. Musah in the midfield 3 would help Emerson cover the gap at RB and midfield and attack.

At this point I don’t understand Fonseca still insisting on playing 4231 when it hasn’t paid any dividends all season.

If we lose this game then Fonseca has to go because he’s being stubborn and foolish instead of just doing what is logical and what makes sense for this team.

  2. If it is the group of players in the predicted line-up. Then change the formation to 433. Simple.
Pulisic can come on as a sub on the right wing after Chuk runs hard for 60 mins.
Let RLC,Fofana and Rjeinders play to their strengths as a 3 man midfield.

  3. If RLC plays as a 10, I’m done hoping we can finish comfortably in a UCL spot. This would show many things but above all, this squad is built incorrectly. It’d be a real bad look for Fonseca, whose stock has risen the past month. But what could he say, that the squad isn’t good enough to play another way without Puli? RLC isn’t going to suddenly figure out how to defend from the 10 position and he isn’t suddenly going to develop the ability to pick his head up and slice up the def with a pass or put a defender behind him and take a shot. Literally, has he done any of that in the 1.5 seasons of playing a 10? RLC as a 10 is a ghost position so we’re playing with 10 men tomorrow, if he plays there. At least as a box-to-box he can break up player better but as soon as he’s responsible for the 10 area, he’s lost. Tomorrow could be ugly if the rest of the team doesn’t play a great game. If they lose big, Fonseca may not be able to enjoy the Panettone.

  4. Whoever thought it was a good idea to buy ruben should be fired, sued and banned from working in football for life, maybe even ban the offsprings if he has any.

  5. No ooo Loftus cheek that doesn’t have shot, lacked ball control hmmm he can’t play the no 10 and again Fonseca has changed alot about Acmilan he has done better.
