AC Milan are apparently in a state of ’emergency’ ahead of their trip to Turin to face Juventus, but Sergio Conceicao will not make any excuses.
‘Changes’ has not been a common word for Milan this season, at least on the pitch, so for the Portuguese head coach to be forced into making a few is certainly a difficult situation to be placed in.
According to Milan News, the squad arrive for the Turin challenge ‘in an emergency’ with several changes being mandatory, rather than tactical.
In defence, Mike Maignan will start, as per, and he will be protected by a bank of four. Emerson Royal, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez retain their places but Matteo Gabbia steps in for the injured Malick Thiaw.
The midfield will be changed a little, with Ismael Bennacer partnering with Youssouf Fofana in the pivot allowing Tijjani Reijnders to occupy the more advanced role.
Leading the line will be Tammy Abraham, who comes in for Alvaro Morata who is unavailable. Either side of him will be Rafael Leao and Yunus Musah should start on the right for the injured Pulisic.
Predicted Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan, Emerson, Gabbia, Tomori, Theo; Bennacer, Fofana; Musah, Reijnders, Leao; Abraham.
As always, our full preview is available including key information about both sides as well as the stats behind the fixture.
Good lineup. Hope Bennacer gets up to spred soon. We could have a killer starting midfield with him Fofana and Reijnders.
Forza Milan ❤🖤
Calabria has a good game, he should keep his spot over Emerson who is woeful. Hopefully with the arrival of Walker we’ll have more stability but i still think Calabria should be kept and somehow find a buyer and cut our losses for Emerson.
When was Calabria’s good game? I must have missed that one.
The Emerson meat rider has returned for his daily sobbing… did Calabria steal your wife buddy, is that it?
Do you think ignorant grade school comments like this are helping your case in any way? You are just making it clear to everyone your level of intellect and immaturity. If someone that makes comments like this agreed with me, I would start to second guess myself.
Make more sense to play 4-4-2 with, last time it works on Juve
Emerson Gabia Tomori Theo
Musah Raijnders Fofana Jimenez
Abraham Leao
Yes, he always ends up switching to 2 up top once we fall behind and it seems to work. Why not try starting the game that way? It worked when Fonseca tried it against Inter.
This match has another 0-0 feel to it.
I think that’s what Conceição will do as he will use Reinjders and Musah as wingers. That’s why Bennacer will partner Fofana in midfield. Leao and Abraham are playing as strikers. If
As soon as I see Emerson in the lineup, I already know we’re gonna concede at least 1 goal… it will never make sense how he plays. We’ve tried 4 players at RB this season and he’s been the worst of the 4. Utterly ridiculous…
Another completely foolish comment from the delusional kid. They’ve had 7 clean sheets this season with Emerson starting. Not a single one in any of Calabria’s starts.
They have a better record when Emerson starts, they give up fewer goals when Emerson starts.
And you might want to keep in mind the level of competition the 2 are facing when comparing as well.
Calabria’s not starting when we beat Inter twice. He wasn’t facing Real Madrid when we beat them. Or Juve.
Calabria starts against Serie B sides in Coppa Italia. Cagliari, Slovan Bratislava, Parma. And his numbers and the team’s are still bad.
The one time he faced a top team this season against Liverpool he was absolutely torched and received a 4.5 rating. It’s not even a fair comparison, and he still loses. Stop with the Calabria delusion. He’s done. He was done a year ago.
You are clueless. Emerson is garbage.
Yes for sure now it looks like this is the best way how to play and I know to imagine Leao in attack with his speed he can be decisive .. This will be difficult match , Juve want revenge and in this case if we draw , I think we can be happy …
That’s not 4-3-3. There are 4 midfielders listed there. That looks to me like a 4-4-2. Which could work.
He’s almost using Musah as Sacchi did Colombo, a wide midfielder rather than a winger. It could keep things nice and compact
Musah doesn’t have much offensive potency but he is a better defensive option.
I think he can play that wide midfield role he has good energy, and will keep things compact. Of course covering for Royal’s inevitable poor positioning and balls ups….
So who’s on the bench for midfield if all our available midfielders are starting the match? Vos and Zeroli? Bit risky in my opinion.
I think if Bennacer for example needs coming off, Musah will be dropped into the midfield freeing up the wing where an attacker could be used. So despite being odd having all available senior midfielders starting, an attacker can be introduced to replace one. You could still argue that it will be better having a fresh leg midfielder in the second and you would be right.
That I understand but considering Fofana and Reijnders are quite exhausted and Benny is not fit, it would be better to introduce Musah later in the game for one of those three.
