Player Ratings: AC Milan 2-1 Fiorentina – Tomori decisive; duo shines off the bench

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan clinched all three points against Fiorentina this evening thanks to a late own-goal. There were a few players that stood out and down below are the player ratings for the Rossoneri.

Starting XI

Tatarusanu (6): He wasn’t forced to that many saves this season but made a couple of good ones. His distribution could have been better but he certainly did enough and can’t be blamed for the goal.

Kalulu (5.5): He made a few errors that could have been very costly for Milan this evening. Failed to clear the ball before Ikone broke through (Tomori’s tackle rescued Milan) and then nearly scored an own-goal. He can do better.

Thiaw (5.5): He was way too shy with his passing this evening and also made an unfortunate but fatal error on Fiorentina’s goal. Having said that, he redeemed himself with a few nice actions.

Tomori (7 – MOTM): Rescued Milan on two occasions, first with his tackle on Ikone and then with a goal-line clearance to deny the winger. He had the fighting spirit and energised his teammates.

Hernandez (6): An okay display from him in both phases of the game, with nothing spectacular but also nothing horrible.

Bennacer (6): He actually struggled a bit with his passing in the first half (due to Fiorentina’s high press) and also had a few weird moments in the second half. His work rate and presence just about got him the pass though.

Tonali (5.5): He was present but also didn’t really do that much when in possession. One would have liked to see him send it long more often rather than opt for the simple pass backwards or sideways.

Diaz (5.5): Had a couple of nice turns and was denied a goal on the line but ultimately could have done a lot better. It was right to sub him off.

Krunic (5): His poor rating is not due to what he did with the ball, but he simply wasn’t involved enough tonight. Milan need their No.10 to find the spaces in between a whole lot more than he did.

Leao (6): He got the opening goal for the Rossoneri but he struggled a bit after that, quite frankly. It was not the high standard we have become so used to.

Giroud (6): It was a lovely assist for Leao and he also won quite a lot of duels, lacking support from his teammates many times. But he can also do better, just like Leao.

Substitutes

Dest (6.5): A very positive performance off the bench with several good runs forward and some nice skills showed off.

Origi (5.5): He ran quite a lot but ended up adding very little to the Rossoneri’s game.

Vranckx (6.5): He got the goal-winning assist after he had the guts to take commando on the right flank. He also had a few other good sequences this evening.

Rebic (N/A): He didn’t play enough to get a rating. But he was important on the goal.

  1. Theo played too casually and didn’t look like his usual self. Maybe he didn’t want to force too much and risking his 1st WC.

Dest, aside of 1 crucial loose pass, shows progress. While Vranckx should be considered to get more and more playing time. Looks solid.

    1. Too casually and didn’t look like his usual self? That is his usual self. That and being selfish and completely unaware of what’s going on around him.

          1. “Incredible how you insult our best player.”

LOL. So the player YOU think is Milan’s best player is off limits when it comes to critique? 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

      1. A good player but far from best, inconsistent, and not a finished product. He is entitled to what he want and believe, but I’m also thinking 7m is big enough offer for him.

  2. That missed chance in later stages from Leao I thought was end of title for us baring anyone stopping napoli…..but a champions mentality wins us through…..its a good time to have a break and staff, players and management should look back how they move forward….dest and vranchx were outstanding infact beside the regulars who play good….if we play like first half baring first 18 mins we will be taken for a ride….but overall a good way to go on a break…..

  3. Thank God for the World Cup break. This team has been figured out. Everything they do is predictable and stale. New quality reinforcements are desperately needed, especially in midfield. Milan doesn’t have a single player who can create something with a pass. Bennacer, Tonali and Krunic were bullied by one player Amarabat. All 3 were awful. Apart from the last 10 minutes I didn’t even know Bennacer was in the game.
Hopefully this was the last game I’ll have to watch Tatarusanu play for Milan ever again.
Vranckx and especially Dest were the only bright spots.
Tomori didn’t have a good game at all. He got beat time after time by Ikone and made a foul that should have been a penalty. He saved a goal, and his effort is always high, but he makes way too many mistakes.
IF After almost every game, you have to write that Leao wasn’t up to his high standards , maybe the low standard is the rule and whenever he plays good is the exception. He played good 90 seconds and was awful the rest of the game. And proved again how bad he is at finishing .
Can’t wait for Calabria and Saelemakers to be back in January, and Pioli needs to use Vranckx more.

    1. And if people noticed there were few occasions during the game, especially in the 2nd half, when Dest and Origi were screaming and waving angrily towards Leao because they had the ball in the attacking area , they looked Leao’s way and he did nothing to open himself up, no cut inside between the defenders , no move wide so he can open a passing lane, nothing he just stood there glued to his defender
He is a Great athlete and below average footballer . The only difference between Leao now and Leao in 2019 is that he has higher confidence and is physically stronger. The rest when it comes to understanding, reading the game and movement is the same old Leao. He either needs a hard nosed coach as Zlatan had with Capello to hold him responsible and force him to improve his game or whoever pays a lot for him will regret it.
I don’t believe for 1 second that ManCity and Pep are interested in Leao. He is totally opposite of Pep’s quick passing and players moving in open spaces player

      1. You’re right but, 90 seconds and a goal. I want this player on my team. Specially when without him and those 90 seconds, we are an average side most of the time.

        1. “You’re right but, 90 seconds and a goal. I want this player on my team.”

The thing is though… A football match lasts for 90 MINUTES and it’s simply not good enough to play for 90 seconds only. 99% of the match he was strolling around NOT defending one bit.

          1. 90% of football matches end with at most 2 to 3 goals scored tops. I’d be fine with a player who most of the time scores a goal or makes an assist and then strolls around, like you say.

We are not City or Real. We need his contribution to win matches.

          2. “We are not City or Real. We need his contribution to win matches.”

Well, you got that right: We need ALL the players to participate and contribute from the kick off to the final whistle. No freeloaders wanted.

          3. Leao is a “freeloader” @bb?? LMAO. What a donkey. Lol. Leao not his best game but same can be said for many other players who were very quiet (like Theo) – yet you only criticize Leao. Wonder why that is🤔.

          4. “What a donkey. Lol. Leao not his best game but same can be said for many other players who were very quiet (like Theo) – yet you only criticize Leao.”

And the donkeylover is back!!! LOL. You sure love ’em.

FFS you are stupid! Z commented about Leao. Why should I comment on other players on that topic? Only a f’ng donkeyloving moron would start directing the discussion to different topic.

      2. He is most talented player in Italy by far but his mentality and intelligence might be worst in the league. Leao compared to Kvara in terms of efficiency on the pitch is not even a contest… I think if we get 100m offer just sell him no question asked he is great talent but his mentality is just not there to be one of the best… How he has been acting this pass month is kinda bizarre fame got into his head he made 0 presses his defensive effort is 0 when was the last time he made and assist or even a pass for that matter oh and on top of that his finishing is just average…

        1. Yeah, that is why half of Europe is interested. Because he is bad. Not that he won the title for us last year or is forced to play alone when bozos like Giroud can’t hit the target from 3-4 shots in a row. I wouldn’t pass to Diaz or Giroud ever.

          1. Half of europe was interested in Dembele… He is super frustrating to watch he is amazing talent wise but his decision making is so poor. This year he also became his old lazy self, because he is to “good” for defending we have zero pressing in final third this year…and worst midfield yes we miss Kessie and not pressing higher up puts more pressure on our double pivot that is why our CB’s get exposed even more —-> we suck in defence this year..In modern football whole squad must be part of the attack and defence this is not 2008 any more…
You seem to forget that he wants vinicius jr money.. You can’t even compare those two in terms of decision making and defensive contribution…

          2. “I wouldn’t pass to Diaz or Giroud ever.”

LOL. Yeah, always a good idea NOT TO pass to the 2nd best goal scoring machine in France national. I mean, he’s a couple of matches away from overturning Thierry Henry who wasn’t a decent player either, right?

            Some people… 😀 😀 😀 😀

      3. People just ignore the fact that he wants 9m per year..(And if we learned something from the past will most likely not renew even if we offer 9m like Donnarumma ) And some people here act like this just does not matter and compare Leao to Theo who is left back not a winger if LB is quiet at least means he did not fuck up in defence that match and he also gets 5m a year and he actually signed the contract, Benzema gets 8m and he won ballon d’or.. I would love to have Leao for the future he is our best player since Ibrahimović and Thiago Silva (2011) and he has the talent to be world beater but lets be real he is currently not worth 9m per year and specially this year with this mentality and decision making he can go either way be amazing like vinicious. jr or became Dembele 2.0… And how he is acting on the pitch this last month he is more like the latter

    2. I agree with what you said, except for Tatarusanu. He is not the best GK, but he played decently. He is here only for Maignan’s deputy and shouldn’t play often anyway if Maignan stay fit. I actually think as backup he is decent, he played 12 times until now, conceded 12 times (including 5 goals conceded from 2 poor team match against Chelsea). In Serie A he only conceded 7 times in 10 matches.

And his stat actually is similar to Maignan this season, who conceded 9 times from 9 matches.

I think, he is doing his job decently. Won’t mind a new backup GK, but it’s not priority for now.

  4. This team had played poorly again. Very lucky to be in the position they are right now. Maybe played well in 3 games all season. Tomori MOTM is crazy. He got caught out again as he has many times this season and that was 100% a penalty on him. Dest looked good. Vranckx looks good and I think it may be time to see a Bennacer/ Vranckx midfield. Tonali looks slow and tired and just doesn’t add much. Hopefully we will get Ibra back after the break and he will put some energy into this team.

    1. When Ibra is there we score more I think in an article it was written and vrankx might be answer for midfield maignan and kjaer in defence but CAM RW an St so this is right now thought and leao renewal also bring LW to question and maybe a CDM also needed and a solid CB maybe. So yea there is a lot to work on main issue is Rw cam tho

    2. Agree! No way Tomori was MOTM. He might be the king of last ditch defending, like he has been all season. But in almost all other respects he has been poor. Poor positioning, poor reading of the game, poor in making his fellow defenders move well. He is no leader of the defensive line at all. I totally understand why he is not in Englands WC squad.

      1. He is king of last ditch defending because he is always reacting to attacking team not reading the game and anticipating like all of the best defenders do Thiago Silva in his prime made last ditch save twice in a month not in a game…

    3. If there is anyone still saying that Milan doesn’t miss Kessie in the midfield they just don’t know football at all. Milan has been getting bossed in the midfield. Mediocre teams passing through our midfield with ease. Defense was not good yet again. I think someone showed a Pioli a star that Milan has only conceded 1 goal this season when Kjaer was on the field, and that was a free kick. Still he doesn’t play him. Unbelievable.

    4. The issue with Tomori is that he is a right footed player who is forced to play on the left side of the defense because Milan let the only left footed CB leave in the summer and didn’t replace him.
All our CBs are right footed.
      Grazie Paolo

  5. We got lucky today.
Fiorentina was way better and they can even say that they were wronged by the ref because that was a penalty on Tomori’s tackle on Ikone. Their midfield destroyed our midfield. #34 Amrabat was everywhere and is a beast. Something we used to have in Franck Kessie.
Rafael Leao is just a weapon on a team. He can’t be the leader or the best player on your team or even by far the highest paid player if you want to be a top club. He neither has the personality, nor the will or mentally to be someone you build a team around. You can’t disappear when your team needs you the most or miss chances that someone that wants 7,8,9 mil a year has to put away. He is also a very selfish player and someone who is only good when he goes 1v1.
Milan should absolutely sell and reinvest his money in 3, 4 quality players to fill out the squad.
I watched highlights recently of the way Milan played in 2020 and 2021, when Leao was a back up and it was Hakan, Saelemakers, Rebic/Diaz and Zlatan up front. It was a beautiful free flowing football with No one to kill every attack by holding on to the ball too long or trying to go 1v1.
Hopefully Milan gets good money for him and invested smartly .
8 points behind Napoli is a lot but is still not over. But not we the way Milan has played this season. They gotta come back much stronger in 2023. Hopefully they come back just as they did after the shutdown in 2020 and go on a run

    1. It was very good to see ibra rebic and Hawan but Hakan left. Ibra is injured. Rebic can’t find his form and gets injured when he does.

    2. Yes great idea let’s get rid of Leao who won us the Scudetto and get back to the good ol’ days of mediocrity with Rebic/Diaz, Hakan and Saladmaker. Three players who should all sit on Milan’s bench at best.

      1. Really? Leao won us the scudetto?
If you don’t remember how last season unfolded, I bet there are a bunch of YouTube videos that can remind you that was a whole team effort that won us the scudetto. Not a single player who barely cracked 10 goals, and who BTW, had only 1 more g/a contributions than a mediocre Hakan

        1. Yeees really. Stop watching youtube videos and start watching matches.

Our team effort was all good and nice but wouldn’t have won us the Scudetto, like the season before the last when it didn’t. Leao almost single-handedly won us the last 7 matches of the season, which were all against tough opponents, and no one, including you, though we could win them all. But he won us those matches and won himself the MVP of the league along the way.

Hakan, don’t make me laugh. Dude only managed second place with Milan and went to Inter and made them second best too.

          1. We didn’t win the scudetto the year before because Inter was a far better team. And even last year Milan won barely after Inter lost their coach and had to sell their 2 best players. Had nothing to do with Leao.
And what games did Leao win us by himself? I remember Giroud winning us games, Zlatan, Tonali, Brahim Bennacer . What , the Fiorentina game, when their GK passed the ball to Leao and he somehow managed to hit the target and not row 5 of the stadium as he usually does.
Stop glorifying 1 player. It was a perfect example of a whole team effort that won a scudetto

          2. Leao won the points on his own in more than a few matches. Our attack was Leao and only Leao in more than one match. Anyone saying differently is just lying because of their subjective idiocy.

          3. ” Anyone saying differently is just lying because of their subjective idiocy.”

LOL. Megalomaniac is the word that comes to mind when people say stuff like that.

          4. As I said, you all need to start watching matches.

Last 6 matches of last season :

            Milan 2 – 0 Genoa – Leao 1 goal
            Lazio 1 – 2 Milan – Leao 1 assist
            Milan 1 – 0 Fiorentina – Leao 1 goal
            Veroa 1 – 3 Milan – Leao 2 assists
            Milan 2 – 0 Atalanta – Leao 1 goal
            Sassuolo 0 – 3 Milan – Leao 3 assists

That’s 3 goals and 6 assists in 6 matches. Goal or assist contribution from a winger in 6 straight g, that games is something very few players in the world can manage. There’s a reason he won the MVP with those performances. Keep in mind that in most of those assists he literally did 90% of the job and only a tap in were required.

          5. @Kourosh..

The thing about arguing with stupids is they drag you down to their level and beat you with their stupidity. Dont try mate. You don’t stand a chance.

Those who ACTUALLY Watch Milan matches Know exactly what Leao did for the team. There is NO WAY In a thousand Hell Milan would be even in top 4 without half of Leao’s contribution. But these highlight junkies wouldn’t know it. Let them believe whatever they want. Hell some are still stuck in Hakan’s $hitty shinterista A$s lol

Yes, team game of course, defense was good as well.. But those would help with only us not losing points. To WIN, you NEED points..and Leao brought us that.

He won us 7 matches with goals.. 21 points..
Won us 5 games with assists.. 15..

That’s 36 points. If you go down even 18 points, you lose top 4. You don’t get to be MVP of a league for just walking around. But.. No point in trying to change stupidity.

            Forza Milan.

    3. “they were wronged by the ref because that was a penalty on Tomori’s tackle on Ikone”

No that was a good tackle from Tomori.

  6. So Milan have a player with confidence, flexibility and agility in aster vrancx and pioli has been putting him on the bench and giving chance to a tall and less confident pobega who looks like a standing pole with no flexibility. All that he does is chasing shadows of the opposition midfielders and committing fouls for the team and as for adli he is also another one. I think pioli should start giving chance to aster. This are the kind of players we need to become a top team in Europe.

  7. Leao is unserious lazy…n wasteful. Let’s get Amrabàt pls….
2 compensate 4 d loss of Jessie rather than wasting time on scouting R. Sanches

  8. Did we watch the same game? No one deserves more than a 6. This World Cup break is a godsend to this team. Fiorentina should have hammered us today, it was an embarrassing performance. Vranckx and Dest were good off the bench and Giroud and Tomori were the only ones who played well. Everyone else was a joke.

    1. Tomori was awful. Out of position, unsure, playing scared and one step behind at all times. Him as MOTM is a F’ing joke. Getting lucky to be hit by a shot and not called for a clear penalty were his only two “good” moments of the game.

  9. Chill. Dest was not better than rest of the team
If he’s closely marked or pressured he panics, a majority of what you claim he did well was while he was unmarked. Ball watches in defense and is a serious liability. You can clearly see that the rest of the team scan each other option twice first and only pass to him as a last resort. Definitely his “best” game but that’s a really low bar…jokes

  10. Many hoped that this would be Tata’s last appearance in front of goal. Baffling positioning, and confusing passes that break the rhythm of play.
And then Leao. If he’s so worried about his feet , he should be given the understanding that it’s the clubs that are paying him so he can keep smiling and continue with his rap music and clothing store projects.
Fiorentina did not deserve to lose. They were so good at moving between spaces in their final 3rd and were able to move around freely as if Milan didn’t have a DM because Tonali and Benacer always drifted too far forward.
Dest, the consistency has not been seen. But tonight he really took Milan to a new level with his dribbling and long pass into the box. A lucky Milan can secure 3 points in tonight’s match.
Hopefully in the middle of the last season Maignan can start playing right away. I swear, Tata really does not provide security guarantees for Milan’s defense.

  11. Every time Milan scores a goal the VAR literally be like “Let’s see if I can find something from the last 5 minutes to cancel that goal”. It’s crazy.

I’m astonished that they didn’t give the penalty and didn’t disallow the goal though. I was 100% sure they’d both be judged against us as usual.

        1. It was not the same time. He went through him to get to the ball. The commentators saw it, the referee analyst after the game agreed it was a penalty. It’s ok to admit when we got away with one.

          1. It’s a 50/50. Neither call would have been wrong. The player threw his body in between Tomori and the ball so yes, there was contact first. But he got the ball too.

I would have given a penalty if I were the ref. But I do understand why he didn’t give one.

  12. Despite the lucky win, I’ll say this..
Tatarusanu is the weakest link of this team and should not even come close to mounting the goal post for a prestigious club like Milan with a great record of good goal keepers. I don’t care if he’s the second goal keeper, he should be in this club period. The defense is suffering cos of his shaky self. Poor transitioning, does not command confidence like Mike does and poor passes of the ball. I just don’t trust him at all cos he’s making the defense look bad. This is a defense that was top notch last season with Mike despite the injuries we had.

Rafael Leao is a fantastic player but still needs a lot of growing up to do. When you show people that you’ve got only one move, the prepare a tactic to stop that move. I personally think he should be sold if he doesn’t renew after the World Cup cos it will be another stall in other to be a free agent which is a trend with Milan players. The club can do a lot with that money..

Pioli made some good subs but I wonder why he still kept tired Tonali on the pitch for that long when you have a fresh pit of legs in vranckxx. Hope I got that right lol..

Finally, I think our problem for now apart from new signings is the fact that our build up play has been messed up because of a shaky goal keeper and he don’t deserve to be in the team. IDGAF how many saves he must have made, he’s still trash.

    1. We had trouble in defense even with Mike at the start of the season.

Tatarusanu has done his job as the second choice GK. Be glad he didn’t commit any howlers.

  13. This was another poor ACM performance with no control, slow pace, poor passing, bad positioning, no vision etc. We struggle a lot this year to present a fluid team game.
It’s also very frustrating that none of our frontline (skip Messias and occasionally Leao) can’t dribble and regularly beat any defender on a 1:1 situation.
Hopefully we will have time to reinvent our game and come stronger and fresh in 2023.
Our current 8 points gap isn’t no go, yet we need to seriously improve and become a TEAM again.
    Very important -and lucky- win.
Time to rest and work hard.
    Room to improve.
    Forza!

    1. “This was another poor ACM performance with no control, slow pace, poor passing, bad positioning, no vision etc. We struggle a lot this year to present a fluid team game.
It’s also very frustrating that none of our frontline (skip Messias and occasionally Leao) can’t dribble and regularly beat any defender on a 1:1 situation.”

And Milan is seriously lacking creativity everywhere. The midfield should have 1-2 creative players who know how to open up defenses. We don’t have that. The only players with creativity are Zlatan & Adli but one is injured and one has other issues that are preventing him from showing those attributes.

  14. I don’t know what some of you are talking about. Rafa scores a goal, is the main creative outlet for the entire game and with better finishing would have had an assist or two. His “bad games” are still very productive. I think he would be very hard to replace and will still get much better in the future.

    1. This is EXACTLY what people don’t understand. Yes he is very annoying at times and lazy. But he does contribute to the team’s best chances, often scoring a goal or making assists. Something other players in the team are usually UNABLE to do.

Without him we’ll be in serious trouble. We’d be an average team which will draw or lose many matches. If we were City or Real I wouldn’t want him in my team, but we’re Milan and he’s crucial for us. Imagine the derby we won 3-2 without him in our team…

    2. Yeah, Leao is horrible and at the same time Giroud is amazing. A huge guy that scores and assists less than Leao, playing all the way forward and being fed perfect balls by that same Leao and other players. 😂😂😂😂 I know he is 36 but he can’t even be compared to Ibra in efficiency, Ibra scores more than a goal per 2 games, Giroud needs 3 for a goal. He has been usefull but realistically he is not that good, his numbers don’t lie.

      1. Really, Giroud numbers don’t lie?
Well let’s check his numbers then.
        Last season in serie A
        Leao 11 goals,
Giroud 11 goals ( 3 very important vs Inter and Napoli)
        This year in serie A
        Leao 6 goals
        Giroud 5 goals
        In Champions league
        Leao 1 goal 😂
        Giroud 4 goals.
One of them is 23, the other is 36 year old. But according to @jesus Giroud is not good and Leao is great.
        Okay👍

        1. You are either blind or a fool who is very far from saying the facts.
You forgot to add one is a CF and the other is a LW, you forgot to add that one had more assists than the other overall last season, you forgot to add that one has more assists than the other overall this season. Is a LW supposed to have more goals than a CF? You are a lying fool sorry.

          1. This leao fan boys are something else and their all the same like a cult
Who is Liverpool highest scorer every year? Mo Salah. What is Mo Salah ? A winger.
Tottenham highest scorer last season was Son, a winger.
            Mbappe, a winger
            Cristiano ronaldo a winger.
Andriy Shevchenko scored 24 goals in each of his first 2 seasons at Milan playing as winger in Zaccheroni’s 3-4-3 system .
But only when it comes to Leao the winger is not suppose to score more goals than 36 year old and 41 tear old center forward . We get it.
BtW leao has 5 assists this year and Giroud has 4. So there is not much difference in their numbers

      2. “He has been usefull but realistically he is not that good, his numbers don’t lie.”

Numbers don’t lie? The 2nd best French player ever to score goals for his country. Yep. The numbers do not lie. 🙂

  15. Tomori had a great clearance off the line, was very lucky on that tackle, and then had some horror moments too. Yet again he was turned so easily by Barak and Ikone. Not good enough.

That boy Vranckx has potential and could help us a lot. Pioli should use this break to fix the team like last time with the Covid break because these last few matches have been the worst of his era.

Better use this time to make Thiaw, Vranckx and Dest ready for the second part of the season, as well as recovering our injured.

World Cup break came at a good time for us.

    1. Maldini wants to buy him, which is a bad decision. He Diaz does well Real will come for him with their buy back clause , if he flops he become Milan problem. It a no-brainer let him go!!

  16. Stop playing Diaz. Milan must be mad!
Diaz is a paradox. He plays well, Milan will lose him as RM have buy back clause. He plays badly, he will deny Adil and CDK (Milan owned players) a chance to grow and integrate with the team. Diaz has to be the last option in the bench.

  17. Most people who trash-talk Milan players on this comment section are definitely new to this website or probably only came out of hiding after they heard Milan won the scudetto. They only want their empty words heard.

Sorry, your opinions don’t mean sh*t, and Milan fans don’t want to read it.

You guys can’t rear up your heads after 11 years without a trophy and suddenly think you have an opinion on Leao, Tonali, or anyone in the starting 11. Some “Z” dude even wrote Leao is bad at finishing; are you nuts?? How long have you watched Leao play to come to that conclusion? Clearly you only started watching Milan after their last season’s triumph. Shut the F**k up. Every game we find a scape-goat to blame for all the way the game went. Dest had one of his best showings in a Milan shirt in this game, but he was also disastrous in his first outing, with some calling for a permanent freeze on the player’s inclusion in the team.

We talk about Tomori being turned inside-out by Barak and Ikone, but he was still decisive in today’s result. We talk about Milan being fortunate to not have a penalty awarded against us, since the start of the season do you know how many valid decisions that were not awarded in our favour ? This is football guys, suck it up, sometimes decisions are made in your favour and sometimes they aren’t. It’s still a win and we’ll take it. Drop the self-righteous false modesty by admitting the decision should have been a penalty and just take it the way it is, no one needs the act.

Get behind the team and support them or find some other club to support.

These lads are doing their best, a lot of them are still improving, some even struggling with fatigue. Bar the current weight of the club’s purse, the technical crew have made some intelligent and necessary additions. We may not have the money to attract the best players, or even the most sought after talents, but we are still able to stand our own in our league.

The atmosphere among fans in Milan is void of criticism of the team. Have you ever watched a recent street interview of Milan fans, no one talks shit the way guys here do. Everyone knows where the club is at the moment, and they acknowledge the fact that we may not be as good as top 10 clubs in Europe, but they all speak good and encouragingly. Come one guys, let us be intelligent with our criticism.

Congratulations to Pioli and the team for the hard-fought win. It has been a torrid season so far, but we hope the winter retreat can rejuvenate the team for the second half of the season. FORZA MILAN!!!

  18. I think the world cup has come at a great time. We appear very lethargic and out of ideas in attack. Unity and heart took us over the edge last year, but the lack of quality and cohesion is really showing now. Leao is a fantastic player in moments, his directness and pace can be a real weapen against certain players. However his lethargy, attacking chemisty and him not being involved in the whole game is a point of concern. Over the next few windows we need a quality right winger, better lb back up, and a stronger midfield presence. I think working on getting the most out of CDK is important. That may take some tho

    1. Poli is mad to put Diaz ahead of Adil and CDK. Adil and CDK are both playing good football until they came to Milan facing Diaz (who is essentially a Real Madrid player) taking their places.

      1. What about you being the mad one? Has CDK contributed more than Diaz this season? How was Adli performance in the match he started? Biased fool.

      2. I think he’s doesnt understand Adli’s best position at this stage. CDK needs more time. They need to find a way to reduce the pressure on his shoulders. Worth trying adli in CAM position tho. Our lack of quality is really showing tho

  19. This team cannot win the scudetto this year. We are worse than last year and look super sloppy in defense most days. Honestly we need to just stick with Tomori and Gabbia as they have looked the best together and let them develop more chemistry. For attack we’re limited always. Leao always creates a few chances per match but is still inconsistent with the final product and Giroud is excellent but not every game and it’s understandable at his age. Those are our only quality attackers. Again… those are our only quality attackers. It’s crazy how this wasn’t addressed in the offseason.

    1. Exactly. We practically play without an ACM and RW and somehow people take issue with Leao, our only source of chances. lol

Go think of a solution for those two positions, then we’ll talk about Leao.

Regarding defense, imo opinion we should play Kalulu as CD again. He’s better there and together with Tomori they were great last season. Early this season they struggled but it had more to do with Tomori’s lack of form and Kessie’s absence. Kalulu were great.

  20. Just wanted to add my 2 cents for the record:

    – Tomori was not MOTM for me. Like others have mentioned I think he has struggled a fair bit this season, having to rely on recovery tackles. If people were being truly objective, or if there were a way to show the replay of his tackle without identifying who he was or what team he played for, the overwhelming majority of people would agree that was a no-doubt PK. And they would be correct.
    – I’m a lot higher on Thiaw than this site appears to be and I think he deserves more playing time. He was at least a 6 today and to penalize him for a deflection he knew barely anything about is unfair. Completely unlucky.
    – Could basically copy/paste this from any post-game comment I’ve made in the last 2.5 seasons: our set pieces and our decision-making in the final third are abysmal. I’ve not seen an ounce of improvement in this area under Pioli and zero signs of it getting any better.
    – Ante Rebic is the worst, most wasteful, over-rated player in the history of the sport. There is a reason he hasn’t played for Croatia since Euro 2020: There was a game I watched–maybe against the Czech republic?–where Croatia had him out on the right and after 15 minutes of giving the ball away and generally being so bad that several of his teammates screamed at him, he was subbed-off, talked to no one, and has never been seen again. Seriously, Croatia started IVAN PERISIC over him at striker in the following match!!! He’s the worst player Milan has ever had, the worst player in Serie A, and an embarrassment to the sport.

    Other than that, 3 points!!!

    1. Forgot: Vranckx was great. Loved the way he demanded the ball and wasn’t afraid to be aggressive. I hope he also gets more playing time at the expense of Pobega. Seriously, I hope Milan find a time machine during the world cup break so they can go back and sell Pobega while they still have the chance.

    2. Agreed on every points you made.

It’s hard to accept that our attack hasn’t improved even a little bit under Pioli. But, we do lack a CAM and RW, so I would give Pioli the benefis of doubt. If we keep playing this bad in attack even with a Good CAM and a RW, something needs to be changed, drastically.

As for Rebic, you are right. He has completely lost it. It’s literally a torture to watch the guy in the field. He has zero ball control. Worst part is it’s getting worse.
