Mediaset: Spanner put in Milan’s plans as Real Madrid make Brahim Diaz wish clear

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s hopes of keeping Brahim Diaz beyond his loan spell have been dealt a blow by Real Madrid’s plans, according to a report.

According to Claudio Raimondi’s latest update for SportMediaset (via MilanNews), Real Madrid would like to bring Brahim Diaz back to the Spanish capital at the end of the season rather than let go of him.

It is a blow for Milan, who planned to buy him permanently in the summer given how much Stefano Pioli uses and trusts the 23-year-old. With regard to the Rossoneri’s market strategies though, it must be said that everything depends on qualification for the next Champions League.

If the Rossoneri fail to get a top four spot then it not only has a huge knock-on impact on their spending power but also on the club’s image, because it will be much harder to attract players without the prospect of Champions League football in 2023-24.

  1. This could be a blessing in disguise on a few levels: it will force the club to reckon with CDK one way or another, it might convince Pioli or whomever is our coach in 23/24 to play with a 4-3-3 formation, and we won’t be spending 15m on a player who has been inconsistent at best.
