Giornale: Rebic suffering with a small hernia – he has missed 46 matches since joining

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli is unable to call upon Ante Rebic yet again at the moment as he battles yet another injury problem, continuing a frustrating trend.

After scoring two goals in the first game of the season against Udinese at San Siro, Rebic’s campaign seems to have returned to the same theme as last season. According to Il Giornale (via SempreMilan.it), he Croatian striker is currently out due to a slipped disc that has forced him to jump the last few games.

The word from Milanello is that it is a small hernia that he is suffering from, but as those who have suffered from any kind of hernia will know, it is too painful for him to train as normal and rest is needed to help it go away otherwise it can worsen the issue and lead to surgery.

Since arriving at Milanello in the summer of 2019, Rebic has missed 46 matches out of 148 which is 31%. Once he is back to full fitness – which Pioli will hope happens soon – the hope will be that he can put the recent trend behind him.

  1. Better sell him next season and buy new LW that can play more than 80 percent AC Milan official match or if cannot find buyer let his contract expire , leao need competitor too in LW

  2. Hernias especially spinal disc ones are very tough. He will likely need surgery if not that injury will come back again and again. Regardless, he’ll be out for most of the season.

    1. Even when he plays he is inconsistent from one game to the next. Just look at the first game of the season and the second game. From good to terrible. Just not reliable enough in any way. Sell.

  3. LOL. People here are so funny. They go ballistic if someone criticizes Leao when he has a bad streak of games and tell we should be grateful for Leao and his efforts for the scudetto. And at the same time the same people keep shouting out loud “sell Rebic” without acknowledging that Rebic was as critical as Leao. Although he spent most of the season on the injury list he still scored and assisted VERY important goals and without those goals Milan would have never won the scudetto.

    1. What a ridiculous comment. If you think Rebic was as critical as Leao was to their success last season you are truly delusional. They won the Scudetto by 2 points so you could say that about just about anyone’s goals. Ibra scored and assisted on some very important goals. Tonali had a big goal to win against Lazio, Bennacer, Kalulu scored game winners. But nobody was as critical to their success last season as Leao. And Rebic is the most inconsistent player I’ve ever seen, even when he is healthy, which isnt that often. He looks great at times and terrible at other times. It’s just hard to justify o roster spot for him anymore.

  4. It seems like his injuries really started happening when Leao took off.

Rebic is an incredible player and individual but who can tell because he’s always injured.

Sadly, Milan need to sell him soon as it’s getting to be too much. Maybe Origi slides into Leao’s backup and Milan finally sign a goal scoring forward.
