AC Milan have been taken over by RedBird Capital and their leading man Gerry Cardinale wants to follow the path of the New York Yankees, a report claims.
As today’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) reports, the reference model for the Rossoneri under the American fund will be that of the New York Yankees, the most famous baseball team in the world. Like the Bronx Bombers, Milan are also rich in tradition, history and championships.

The idea is to base the Milan project on three key principles. The first is investments which will be fundamental and while RedBird will not spend the disproportionate amounts that other elite European teams will, they will invest in the squad and in the infrastructure surrounding the club.
Another cornerstone will be the new stadium, and Cardinale is already at work – supported by his right-hand man Alec Scheiner who who pioneered the Dallas Cowboys’ new home – to give Milan its own home within a few years, even if Inter do not share it.
Last but not least is marketing: the Milan brand will have to grow to obtain exposure and revenues. The Yankees are a solid and traditional brand and Milan will have to become the same, in Italy and ideally globally.
