Tijjani Reijnders has signed his new contract with AC Milan this afternoon, and spoke to the media afterwards to confirm the news.

In a season with a lot of darkness, Reijnders’ renewal serves as a boost to morale moving forwards, given he so often has been the light of this season. Throughout the season, many players have drifted in and out of form, but the Dutchman has remained consistent throughout.

As a result, there has been heavy interest in the midfielder from abroad, with several of Europe’s top clubs vying for a chance to bring him to their teams, however, the former AZ Alkmaar man has turned them down in favour of staying in Italy.

His renewal, which will see him stay at the club until 2030, should be announced shortly, considering it was officially wrapped up earlier today, as confirmed by the midfielder when speaking to the press, and Milan News have relayed his words.

How happy are you? A renewal after a year and a half, now Milan becomes a little bit your home….

“It’s a nice compliment. I’m really proud to have renewed after a year and a half. It’s like being in the family. I’m looking forward to the next seasons.”

Did you want to stay?

“Yes, that’s why I signed. It’s like my second home. I am happy.”

A greeting to the fans?

“Hello Rossoneri, I’m very happy to have renewed my contract. See you at the San Siro, forza Milan.”

Now it’s time to get up again….

“It’s a difficult moment, we have to do better and be stronger. We have to keep believing.”
