Report: Arsenal open talks over signing of €25m Milan target – stance of selling club outlined

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Arsenal are both competing with RB Leipzig in the race to land Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai, it is claimed.

A number of different outlets have reported that Milan were close to sealing the signing of Szoboszlai a few months ago when it seemed as though Ralf Rangnick would arrive as the new manager.

The rumours died down, but the reliable MilanNews then reported that Szoboszlai could leave Salzburg in January or June and Milan have returned to put the Hungary international ‘at the top of their list of possible signings’.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira on Twitter though, Milan face competition. He writes that Arsenal are ‘working to provide extra creativity in midfield’ and that they are chasing a player like Houssem Aouar of Lyon or Szoboszlai.

The Hungarian could leave Salzburg if a club triggers his €25m release clause, but Salzburg would prefer to sell him to Leipzig who fall under the same ownership.

Arsenal have opened talks, Schira adds but Milan also want to sign the 20-year-old.
