Barcelona have rejected a bid from an unnamed Premier League side for AC Milan target Ivan Rakitic, according to a report.
The Rossoneri are looking to add some experience as part of a mini overhaul in the January transfer window after a dismal start to the season for their youthful squad.
One player that continues to be linked with a move to Milan is Rakitic, and newspaper il Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews.it) claimed on Saturday that the Croatia international has been offered to the club, but doubts over his high salary remain.
According to an update from Catalan outlet Sport, Rakitic could be forced to leave after five-and-a-half years at the Camp Nou, but Barca have already turned down a €15m bid from an English club as they are holding out for €35m.
Atletico Madrid, Inter and Juventus are also named as admirers, and the report adds that Juventus appears to most appealing project to the 31-year-old, but the Bianconeri can only make a loan bid without sales.
Juve is the project that most convinces Rakitic. But it seems the Old Lady are only prepared to make a loan offer if no other player leaves the club. That’s where Blaise Matuidi comes in. He is out of contract next summer and they may look to cash in on him in January.
The Blaugrana need to bring in €124m in sales before the end of June to balance the books, the report adds, concluding by stating that Rakitic does not want to go to the Premier League.
