Report: Chelsea to help fund Havertz, Alaba moves by selling Milan-linked flop for €25m loss

By Oliver Fisher -

Chelsea are ready to offload midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko in a cut-price deal to help them fund a summer spending spree, a report claims.

A number of sources have reported that the Frenchman is intent on rejoining Milan in the upcoming transfer window, with MilanNews claiming that the club’s management dream of creating a Bennacer-Bakayoko pairing in midfield, as part of Rangnick’s new-look 4-4-2 system.

TMW reported on Monday that Bakayoko will be sold by the Premier League side during the upcoming window after he returned from Monaco, who opted not to use their option to buy, with Milan preparing a substantial package to tempt him back.

According to English newspaper the Daily Express (via Sportsmole), Frank Lampard’s side are keen to sell as soon as possible and are demanding just £18m (€20m) for the 25-year-old – £22m less than they paid for him 2017 (around €45m).

With Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner already through the door, it is believes the Blues are looking to offload players deemed outside the future plans to secure other targets such as Kai Havertz, David Alaba and Ben Chilwell.
