Report claims Milan and Roma are in four-team race to land 78-goal Marseille star

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are one of four teams who are monitoring the situation regarding Marseille winger Florian Thauvin, according to a report.

Half of Europe were after Thauvin two summers ago he netted 22 times in Ligue 1 in the 2017-18 campaign – second only to Edinson Cavani – before winning the World Cup that summer with France.

This season though Thauvin has made just two league appearances after undergoing surgery on an ankle issue, and the fact his deal expires next summer means he could be sold in the upcoming window with no renewal imminent.

Le10Sport linked Milan with a swoop for the 27-year-old in March and this was then backed up by L’Equipe.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com – who cite sources in France – hauvin will leave Marseille, but not this summer.

In fact, the Frenchman will leave on a free transfer at the natural expiry of his contract (2021) with four clubs in the running: Valencia, Atalanta, Milan and Roma.

As per Transfermarkt, the 27-year-old has 78 goals and 51 assists for Marseille across 237 appearances in all competitions.
