Liverpool have been left ‘bemused’ by claims that they are in talks over a move for Schalke defender and AC Milan target Ozan Kabak, a report claims.
RMC Sport reported last week that that Liverpool and Milan are both interested in the 20-year-old Kabak, who would cost €30-40m, with the Premier League side looking for a defender given Virgil van Dijk will be out for the best part of a year after sustaining ligament damage.

Meanwhile, the Spanish outlet TodoFichajes went one further by claiming negotiations between Liverpool and Schalke 04 are ‘well advanced’ and the deal could be closed at a figure close to €22million.
According to the Liverpool Echo though, the links to Kabak – which have continued from the summer window – have ‘been met with some head scratching’ from inside Anfield. They claim that one source believes it is ‘simply the work of an exuberant agent and a team desperate for the cash’.
Liverpool may choose to not sign a new centre-back and simply to try and adapt without Van Dijk, but the report does go on to suggest that Ben White of Brighton is a more serious target if plans do change.
