Alessio Romagnoli’s contract will expire at the end of the season and his future has been discussed heavily lately. By the looks of it, his boyhood club Lazio will be eager to bring in a centre-back this summer.
In fact, the Biancocelesti’s defensive star Francesco Acerbi is expected to leave the club this summer as his contract will expire. At the age of 34, the free transfer has only forced Lazio to act a little earlier than first anticipated.
According to reports from Il Messaggero (via MilanNews), Acerbi’s agent met with Lazio to discuss the situation two days ago. He has also told the defender that the likes of Inter and Juventus are interested, meaning an exit is likely.
This brings us to Milan, as Lazio need to find a replacement this summer. Romagnoli remains a concrete option as he’s still available on a free transfer, given that Milan have been unable to reach an agreement with him. Acerbi’s definite exit could push the Rome-based side to accelerate the Romagnoli talks.
Just accept your Boyhood club’ offer. It is better get starting spot rather than sit on the bench with salary 3m euro nett/years.
