Report: Milan keen on signing €35m-rated Bayern Munich regista

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could rival a number of Serie A sides for the signing of Bayern Munich’s veteran midfielder Javi Martinez, a report claims.

The Rossoneri sacked head coach Marco Giampaolo on Tuesday and the appointment of head coach Stefano Pioli was confirmed earlier on Wednesday.

The former Fiorentina and Lazio boss will want to put his own stamp on the squad as soon as possible with the Rossoneri having struggled to start the season.

Attentions have already turned to the winter window, with recent reports claiming the club are ready to do business.

One area that could require attention is in midfield, with Pioli relying on a quality regista in his 4-3-3 formation plus director Zvonomir Boban stating that more experience is needed in the squad.

This is where Javi Martinez’s name fits perfectly and according to Calciomercatonews.com, his time at Bayern Munich may finally be coming to an end.

The Spanish midfielder is struggling to find space at the moment having played just 131 minutes across five appearances in all competitions this season so far.

Niko Kovac is ready to let the 31-year-old go for between €25-35million, the report adds, with Milan and Pioli firmly ‘at the window’ alongside a number of other Italian clubs – such as Inter.
