Report: Rangnick may look to bring €142m duo to Milan amid Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool links

By Oliver Fisher -

Ralf Rangnick could target two players from his old club RB Leipzig if he were to take over at AC Milan, according to a report.

German outlet Bild dropped a bombshell on Monday afternoon when they claimed that Rangnick is in advanced talks to become the new head coach and sporting director of AC Milan

Although mixed reports have come out since regarding the future of Stefano Pioli, it hasn’t stopped some media outlets from speculation what Milan may look like under Rangnick.

According to Calciomercato.it, it is ‘logical to think of some players from Leipzig’ when discussing a vision for a new-look Rossoneri, as they are last club in which the 61-year-old worked in the dual role of manager-director.

Young players of high quality are needed to give greater consistency to the Elliott project, and of those centre-back Dayot Upamecano could be a possible target.

The 21-year-old Frenchman was at Red Bull Salzburg for the 2016-17 season before moving to Leipzig, and was linked with a move to Arsenal throughout January, with reports in the media claiming the he is valued at £70m (around €82m).

Meanwhile, the report adds that German international hotshot Timo Werner could be a long-term solution for the Rossoneri frontline.

The 23-year-old has scored 20 goals in 20 games this season, but continues to be linked with a €60m move to either Liverpool or Manchester United.
