Report: Sampdoria enquire about Milan outcast Castillejo as Giampaolo returns

By Isak Möller -

Samu Castillejo has been on the brink of leaving Milan for quite some time now and although his summer move broke down at the last minute, there have been surprisingly few links this month.

The Spaniard, who has struggled with an injury and Covid this season, hasn’t played that much for Milan this season and his future seems to be elsewhere. His contract will expire in 2023, so the Rossoneri can still get some money from him.

According to Nico Schira, Sampdoria are interested in his services as their soon-to-be manager Marco Giampaolo appreciates the winger. In fact, the Genoa side have asked for information on the No.7’s situation.

Sampdoria lost against Torino last night and it’s now being widely reported that Giampaolo will replace Roberto D’Aversa at the helm of the team. Only the official announcement is missing and perhaps Castillejo will join the former Milan manager.
