Report: The reason Theo Hernandez chose move to AC Milan over Napoli

By Oliver Fisher -

Theo Hernandez was one step away from completing a move to Napoli this summer before choosing to join AC Milan, a report claims.

The French full-back was the first signing that the Rossoneri got over the line, arriving on a five-year deal from Real Madrid for a fee of €20million.

He has been one of the bright spots in an otherwise disastrous start to the season, in which Milan have lost six of their first 11 games for the first time in 78 years.

According to Radio Kiss Kiss – as cited by Calciomercato.it – it could have all been very different for the 21-year-old.

The Naples-based outlet claims that Hernandez was in fact a step away from teaming up with former Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli.

However, the Rossoneri managed to swoop and Paolo Maldini launched a charm offensive. The main factor though, the report states, is because Hernandez was unconvinced of moving to Naples, and prefers Milano as a city.
