Reports: Chelsea exercise renewal option as midfielder edges closer to Milan loan move

AC Milan appear to be closing in on the return of Tiemoue Bakayoko after positive talks with his agent, reports claim.

According to Sky Sport journalist Angelo Mangiante (via MilanNews), Milan have made advances this morning in a deal to bring the Frenchman back to San Siro after his loan spell in the 2018-19 season, with further confirmation arriving that the 26-year-old is close to rejoining Milan.

Fabrizio Romano writes on Twitter that Milan are getting closer to Bakayoko after a new meeting was held today to reach an agreement with Chelsea. His contract was extended until June 2023 in order to complete potential loan move.

Antonio Vitiello of MilanNews writes that a meeting was held on site at Casa Milan with the agents of Bakayoko (First agency) during which there were positive talks, with work underway to sign him on loan after the Blues triggered a one-year option.

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com also confirms Bakayoko’s deal now expires in 2023, and a loan move to Milan is close.
