Reports: Next 48 hours ‘decisive’ for Bonucci-Caldara swap as Chelsea lurk

By Isak Möller -

According to the latest reports out of Italy, Chelsea’s interest in Mattia Caldara has intensified, which isn’t exactly good news for AC Milan.

The Rossoneri have been negotiation with Juventus for several days now regarding a Caldara-Bonucci swap, while Gonzalo Higuain would arrive in a separate transfer. However, as Chelsea are very keen on Caldara, the terms for Bonucci’s move to Juventus could rapidly change.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport report that Chelsea are interested in Rugani and Caldara, while a successful transfer for the latter to Stamford Bridge could mean that Milan will swap Bonucci for Higuain. In that case, Milan would also pay €20m to Juventus, in addition to the inclusion of their captain.

Corriere Dello Sport describes the next 48 hours as ‘decisive’ for the futures of Caldara, Higuain, Pjanic and Rugani. At the time being, it seems Milan would only be able to sin Caldara if Chelsea fail to land the defender, or alternatively moves for Rugani.
