Sampdoria are confident of hiring Gennaro Gattuso to replace Marco Giampaolo as their next boss, a report claims.
Gattuso left his post as Rossoneri boss on Tuesday after failing to guide the club to a top for finish, with Milan ironically being linked with Giampaolo as his successor.
Sampdoria are keen on the idea of appointing Rino, and La Repubblica state that the interest is mutual and Gattuso is flattered by interest from the blucerchiati.
There has been contact between the two parties since weeks ago, during which they decided to postpone talks until the end of the season, but now the wheels are firmly in motion.
Samp’s interest in well known and they are ready to offer a three-year deal to Gattuso, however he also has an eye on a potential opening at Newcastle United, who remain interested in the former midfielder.
