Repubblica: Milan and Everton among five teams in race for €50m-rated Belotti – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are one of five teams readying a bid to sign Torino star Andrea Belotti this summer, according to a report.

Milan have of course been linked with a move for the forward before, with reports in 2018 stating that they saw a bid of €50m plus Patrick Cutrone rejected, but this summer may represent a better time to sign the boyhood Milanista.

It was claimed by both Tuttosport and La Stampa over the past couple of months that Milan have not given up on Belotti and could launch a summer move, especially if Zlatan Ibrahimovic departs.

According to the paper edition of La Repubblica on Sunday (as cited by Football Italia), Milan are ‘preparing a summer bid’ for Belotti along with Napoli, Fiorentina, Everton and Atletico Madrid.

The 26-year-old’s contract is due to expire in June 2022 and he does not seem willing to sign a renewal, meaning he is likely looking to test himself at a big club before it is too late.

There is a €100m release clause built into his contract but it is valid only for clubs outside of Italy, and the report adds that the Granata are demanding €50m for the forward, who has 15 goals in 31 competitive appearances this season.

Fiorentina have put forward an offer of €40m already, and Belotti’s grandmother confirmed La Viola’s approach, but Napoli could be favourites as Torino already owe them €20m for Simone Verdi, while Andrea Petagna ‘could be included as part of the deal’.
