AC Milan will entertain Napoli at San Siro tonight and it could well be a strange situation given that the away side have Stefano Pioli on their list to replace Walter Mazzarri, as per a report.
This morning’s edition of La Repubblica (via PianetaMilan) writes that Pioli, who is under contract with Milan until 30 June 2025, could leave at the end of the season and try a new challenge at another club.
Napoli owner and president Aurelio De Laurentiis has Pioli on the list of names that are being considered to lead them for 2024-25, given Mazzarri is unlikely to remain beyond his interim period.
Yesterday afternoon at Milanello in his press conference on the eve of the game Pioli – who already a few days ago had said he was ‘bored’ by the rumours surrounding his future – gave little away: “The the future is only the match that arrives.”
The paper adds that Pioli too is aware of what is circulating in the media regarding a possible separation with Milan and all the talk about Antonio Conte, Thiago Motta and Julen Lopetegui.
A move to Napoli, should he leave Milan , could be a good solution for the continuation of his career in the eyes of La Repubblica.
