Respected journalist claims Rangnick to Milan ‘will not happen’ – talks ‘were not successful’

By Oliver Fisher -

Ralf Rangnick will not be taking up a role at AC Milan this summer as talks over a potential position with the Rossoneri did not reach a successful conclusion, according to one journalist.

Speculation has been rife in the media over the last few weeks claiming that the German is set to take a role at Milan which would be unprecedented in Italian football, as he would become both the head coach and sporting director.

Denials regarding a renewal arrived from Rangnick, his agent and from inside Casa Milan, but there were still a number of outlets claiming that a pre-agreement – even if verbal – had been reached.

Nonetheless, SportBild and Bild journalist Christian Falk has extinguished those rumours on Twitter on Wednesday. Asked by a Milan fan about whether Rangnick will join Milan, he responded with the following: “No, that won‘t happen. The talks were not successful.”

This comes after La Gazzetta dello Sport reported earlier in the week that Stefano Pioli’s chances of staying on as head coach is becoming an increasingly likely possibility.
